Goliad was hit by the Spanish Flu as so many were.

A Goliad man would help when Goliad would have heavy rains which could cause a debris choke point, especially around the bridge leading to La Bahia. He would jump in the river and attach chains to the trees that washed down and became stuck under the bridge. The men on the bridge would then pull the chains and remove the trees
Once he found a canon and attempted to wrap the chains around it but it was too heavy for the men to hoist it up to the bridge. This story was confirmed by some of the men who were there when the canon was found.

Today was the burial of Fannin and his men remembrance at the Presidio la Bahia. Wreaths were laid in honor of those who lost their lives there fighting for freedom. Daughters and Sons of the Republic of Texas participated.

250 years ago women were washing clothes in this creek in the western part of Goliad County. A heavy rain above the creek caused a flash flood that washed several women away and they drown. The creek's name was then changed to Mujerero. Which means "the womanizer" because it took their women away.

Goliad's sons supported our country through all the battles. Mr Carter was born in the late 1800"s and fought in WW I.

In the early 1900's, the second greatest loss of life in Texas came from a tornado hitting Goliad.
