Charl and Joe Draxler (pictured with granddaughter Maddie Jensen) will tell of their experiences drilling wells in third-world countries with the Living Water organization.
Wesley Franklin, a Senior at Glenwood City High School, will share about his visit to the WWII Museum, Paris and the beaches of Normandy, France.
We held the Wayne Peterson Memorial Concert on September 10, 2015 at the Peterson Valley View Farm. It was a touching tribute to one of our founders.
Getting ready for Rustic Lore Days and the Wayne Peterson Memorial Concert. Join us at Peterson's Valley View Farm on Thursday, September 10th for a chicken dinner at 5:00 PM and a concert on the farm at 6:00 PM.
We had a great day at the History Center today. Several lovers of history came in to see our many exhibits. We're open again next Saturday from 1 to 4 PM. Stop in!

We are planning our display at the St. Croix County Fair that opens in Glenwood City on July 15, 2015. We hope you will stop in. We'll have a daily drawing and will sell copies of our book, too.
We've now sold almost 300 books and we're getting lots of great reviews. Thanks for your support.

They are on sale in Glenwood at Norm's Barber Shop, All That and More, YoYo's and Glenhaven. In Downing at the Downing Cafe and in Boyceville at This, That and Everything. You can order right here on Facebook, too.
On the second day of our book signing we were joined by Ruthie Herdahl Neumann, Ernie Severson and Jean Booth. Roger Lindeloff, Elsa Spaeth and Shirley Stone were also there to sign books. We have 32 authors in all.
We're taking orders and mailing out our book. It's getting great reviews.
The cost of each book is $15.

The Glenwood Area Historical Society is proud to present our book 'Echoes of Our Past: the Way it Was.' today we are having a book signing at Glenhaven in Glenwood City. We're having a very nice response.
The Glenwood Area Historical Society proudly announces the release of our long-a awaited book, 'Echoes of Our Past the Way It Was.' this lovely book contains 66 stories written by 22 different authors. It is easy to read and as many, many pictures. The beautiful cover art was designed and painted by Alicia Nilo. The book will be on sale for $15 a copy at Norm's barber shop on Oak Street in Glenwood city.
We are proud and excited to announce the release of our book, 'Echoes of Our Past; The Way it Was.' On November 7 and 8th we had our first two book signing events. You can purchase your copy at 'Norm's Barber Shop' or the 'All That and More,' store on Oak Street in Glenwood City or you may also contact any of the board members or let us know on this site. The books are beautiful and they make great Christmas gifts.

The Glenwood Area Historical Society proudly presents the program,
“Sincerely Ellen” at the Annual Fall Meeting. Chef Willi Neumann again will have another luncheon meal prepared for us serving from noon to 1:30. The program will start at 2:00 P.M. with WWII Musical numbers by Angela Hielmeier and Carol Kelm's Dance Group.
Ellen's life, like so many other Americans her age became involved in a terrible war following the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Please join us to hear Ellen's story of how she has been and still is being honored for her courage, heroism, and personal sacrifice.
Coffee and drinks will also be available after the program
Phil Herdahl, my dad, was thrilled to learn that we have a full Downing Band uniform, complete with the banner, on display at the History building. This dates from the 1930's. We have a picture of the band, complete with the names of all the participants, too.

We had a great board meeting tonight with ten members present. We have 66 stories ready for publication in our new book, which now has the working title, "Echoes from our Past -- the way it was." This is going to be a wonderful book full of people's stories and many, many pictures. We are excited!
