To celebrate the 250th anniversary of Beethoven's birth, six local pianists gathered to record a virtual concert at Old Main Historical & Community Arts Center in Galesville, WI. Each played an individually selected piece of music from Beethoven's amazing repertoire.

Pianist Eric Brisson holds a Doctorate degree in piano performance from the University of Montréeal. He is currently on the faculty of Winona State University. He will be playing: Chromatic Fantasy and Fugue in d minor, BWV 903 by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) and 24 Preludes, op.28 Frederic Chopin (1810-1849)

A Valentine Celebration
Enjoy vocal music featuring Bella Voce from La Crosse, The Unaccompanied Minors, G-E-T high school barbershop quartet, and UW-vocal major, Selah-Marie Castellano with additional vocal solos by Spencer Sveen and Spencer Solberg.

A variety of vocal music — classical, barbershop, and jazz — will be heard in a bistro setting with cheesecake desserts and the topping of your choice.

Ella Rose Mahlumin concert with Doug Mahlum

Saturday, February 1, 7:30 p.m.

Ella Rose will perform songs for sweethearts with her father, Doug. We are accustomed to concerts from her guitarist/vocalist father, Doug, who sometimes brings Ella to sing with him. This time Ella is bringing her dad along for a performance that she will present. Ella is studying vocal music at Viterbo University. The concert will be very special for your Valentine, --and especially for everyone who has heard Ella and her dad sing together. This fantastic father-daughter duo will perform in a bistro setting.
Complimentary chocolate desserts will accompany the music.

Classical Piano Concert and Fundraiser to Celebrate Jim Riley’s 80th birthday.

Sunday, January 26, 3:00 p.m.

Dr. Christopher Mechell, piano professor at St. Cloud State University,
will provide a classical piano concert at 3:00 p.m.
We will follow the concert with an open house reception around 4:15
​with cake and other refreshments.
Free-will donations will help support the program of stipends for students
who perform at Old Main--vocal and instrumental.

Christmas at Old Main
Sunday, December 8, 3:00 p.m

Celebrate Christmas at Old Main with Wina Mortenson and an array of talent, both local and from afar — even as far away as the North Pole.🎄

Wina Mortenson: MC

La Crosse & District Pipes & Drums: For the half hour before the show, Old Main will ring with the sound of Scottish tunes! What a greeting.

Julie's School of Dance: Her youngest students will perform a cute number to get us in the holiday spirit.

The G-E-T High School Holiday Saxes: Eight saxaphonists, one drummer, and one bass player make up this special group.

Middle School Band students: There will be two soloists joining us from the G-E-T Middle School band. Zelda Schultz on oboe, and Morgan Aumman on bells.

Middle School Voice students: Gaonag Vang, Hailey Hornberg, and Cara Klock of Holmen are voice students of Marilyn Lee, who will accompany them on piano for a lovely solo and duet.

The Mortenson Sisters: Beth (Mortenson) Dischinger, of Minneapolis, is joining us to sing and play guitar—with a little help from her sister, Wina.

Jolly Old Elf & Friends: John Carlson, of Rushford, MN, and his grandchildren have worked up a fast-paced comedy routine about two young helpers learning how to be elves.

Unaccompanied Minors: an excellent barbershop quartet made up of local teens, they’re a guaranteed crowd-pleaser. Spencer Solberg, tenor; Andrew Fox, lead; Isaiah Higgins, baritone; Spencer Sveen, bass

Sing-along: High School choir students will lead us in a heart-warming sing-along. Who knows, a visitor from the North Pole might join us, too! (With treats for everyone!)

Cookie Reception: Christmas at Old Main lasts a little over an hour, and is followed by a reception in the second floor gallery, with complimentary Christmas cookies and beverages for all to enjoy. This event is a special tradition at Old Main, intended for ages 3 to 93. (Ages just a suggestion, not strictly enforced.)

Three floors of:baked goods and crafts, honey, photographs and cards, jams and jelly, scarves and jewelry, Gourd Art and Gourd Bird houses, cribbage boards, wood turning items, prints, note cards of Wisconsin, tea towels, original watercolors, botanical cards, dog treats and accessories, kitchen and baby items, stain glass and wood items.

The Girl Scouts will be selling hot dogs and chips for a lunch.

The Reimer Revolution: a string band formed by the children of Nan Horton and Ron Reimer (Sally Reimer, Hans Reimer, Emil Reimer) and their friends, this group has been a favorite at Old Main for many years.
The Higgins Brothers: Sam on guitar and vocals, with younger brother, Isaiah, joining him on vocals, have prepared a wonderful rendition of a '70s pop song.
Ron White: playing Ragtime tunes on the piano.

About Old Main

The Old Main Historical & Community Arts Center is a non-profit IRS 501-c3 organization.

Opened in 1863, Old Main served as the main building of the Gale College campus, the first university in western Wisconsin. Today, Old Main is becoming well known across the region as a destination for the arts and history. Our mission is to establish and maintain a regional cultural center which preserves the past, promotes the arts, and inspires ideas through personal & community involvement.

Old Main is becoming well known across the region as a destination for history & the arts. Our History & Genealogy Committee catalogs, preserves, and displays artifacts and historical documents from throughout Southern Trempealeau County and the region. We have recently expanded our Historical Library making it available online at WWW.OLDMAIN.COM for easy access to anyone, anytime. Our Gale Star Music & Art Series offers concerts appealing to a broad range of musical interests. It proudly features many professional, aspiring, and student musicians, a monthly art display, and multiple drama productions. Our Summer Concert Series offers free concerts in June, July, and August that appeal to audiences of all ages.
