Julie and Ken Girardini work independently and in partnership at their small studio in rural Maryland. They specialize in designing anything their minds can dream up: furniture, lighting, clocks, candleholders, sculpture, art – ad infinitum.

Julie says, “I’m influenced by the journeys we take in our lives. I am interested in how we travel from one phase of life to another. For me it is a journey into the mysteries of creativity.

This piece, "Wave Reflections Boat" is on display now at the gallery.

Kelly Scudieri's figures stare back at you unabashedly, with soul-revealing eyes, often surrounded by what at first glance appears to be an arbitrary environment. Combining realism and surrealism, her characters, surrounded in majestic color studies, come to life.

To Scudieri, the mystery is a part of the beauty of the art. "It's not so much about "who" specifically these characters are as to the human complexities they represent."

These two new pieces of her's - "Salty" and "Cosmic" - are on view at the gallery!

David Leonard says, “The primary subjects of my paintings are 21st century man’s working monuments, which represent our culture’s dedication to production and consumption. The essence of our way of life can been seen in our never ending attempt to subdue our environment. It is not my intention to either glorify or to condemn this objective, but to invite contemplation and leave judgment up to the viewer. I’m always looking for places where the man-made environment inundates the natural. I paint this in a way where subtle abstraction disassociates elements from the environment, creating an oscillating view of the natural and the fabricated."

This is certainly apparent in these familiar scenes found along most highways throughout the country. Check out these pieces of David's and much more at the gallery - open every day until Christmas!

The perfect fall scene 😍

Marcia Palmer's oil paintings embody her view of everyday life. In her work she takes daily scenes and explores the intricacies that can make them captivating. She says, "It's so easy to overlook the beauty in the details of things we see every day. I like to freeze-frame an image in an organic way and for the viewer to be able to connect with my work through its comfortable familiarity."

We certainly see this with her spiced cider scene that we can smell from here, capturing the vibe of an idyllic fall day.

Anne Stine's love of encaustic painting began in 2016, when she discovered the medium’s ability to add a lush luminescent quality and unique texture to her nature-themed paintings that other media could not achieve.

Stine creates her own paints allowing her to customize color intensity, ranging from bold to transparent hues. Anne paints exclusively in encaustic and hopes to build a greater appreciation for this ancient medium through her exhibitions and teaching.

Anne says, “My artwork expresses the celebration of nature and the renewal of life and hope. It captures beautiful images in nature that are fleeting and can not be postponed."

Leanne Fink is an American artist who creates visually dynamic oil paintings that awaken the senses and move the spirit. Her art displays a contemporary style that is expressive and representational.

Fink states, "I call myself a landscape painter, but that only scratches the surface. Visionary images taken from dreams and concepts influenced by an interest in the cosmos often spill over into my work. My visual vocabulary is all about color and texture.”

These gorgeous pieces - "Daybreak on the Land", "A Road Less Traveled", and "The Light of Day" - are on display at the gallery now.

"Passion in Painting" by Debby Brisker Burk starts today!

Brisker Burk says, “I paint to be engaged in the river of life, the smooth and the turbulent. For me, it is all about the adventure and the process…and to capture a slice of the world in which I inhabit. My thoughts and emotions are the impetus to my artistic expression. The work ‘lives’ in a constant dialogue as I explore and respond to what is happening on the painting surface."

“Communicating and staying connected to our culture by producing artwork that uplifts and brings a place of serenity to the viewer is a constant for me. The subject matter, whether the landscape or the figure, serves as a platform for this connection."

You can view her work at our gallery from November 1 - November 26. The opening reception is November 5 from 5-7pm. The exhibition is free and open to the public.

Sheryl Massaro says, “My visual art and poetry, though often based on the recognizable, share a deeper, ‘off to the side’ look at life than the purely representational. In each of these arts, I endeavor to tap into and convey life’s undertow which, to me, is the unspoken, unseen energy that brings close and binds artists and their readers or viewers.

“From the beauty of agricultural fields and barns, abandoned and in use; of bodies of water and their islands and shores; of the forms and eyes of animals, wild and domestic; of the human form; of our architecture―the constant conversing of light and shading and coloration that lets us see these things is what I always try to convey."

Her new piece, Red Flamingo, is now on view at the gallery!

Daniel Lai says “I am an artist who loves books. I enjoy sculpting and repurposing discarded books. My sculpture series is a three-dimensional journal that conveys snippets of my emotions and feelings toward life; and the themes of this series often touch upon knowledge and contemplation.”

Equally comfortable performing at the keyboard with her jazz trio as she is behind the easel with brush and canvas, Jenny Wilson has flourishing careers in both music and visual arts.

Wilson’s paintings feature both landscapes and abstracts though the line between them is often blurred. With careful use of color and form, Wilson evokes the natural world in ways that challenge perception. This is definitely the case with her two pieces in the gallery now, depicting scenes of coastal Maine.

New exhibition❗️

Come see our newest exhibition "Humor" - open today through October 29. There is a long history of humor in fine art. We invited working artists in the United States to submit their original 2D or 3D works that showcase Humor in daily objects and ordinary life scenes.

“Humor” is about the undisguised use of humor in modern contemporary art. It is not subtle. It’s in your face. It’s laugh out loud. It can be satire, caricature, the absurd, or irony. It can be utterly ridiculous. Juror Glen Kessler selected work by 26 artists that are guaranteed to make you smile, chuckle, or even laugh-out-loud.

Julie and Ken Girardini work independently and in partnership at their small studio in rural Maryland. They specialize in designing anything their minds can dream up: furniture, lighting, clocks, candleholders, sculpture, wall art – ad infinitum.

This grouping of nine image transfer panels is called "Lines of Force" and was created by Ken. (Pieces may be purchased individually.)

Julie and Ken say, “We are self taught and pride ourselves on creating each and every piece by hand. We have deliberately chosen to make a living with our hands and minds and have done so for the past 22 years. Our primary medium is cold rolled steel, but we add curiosities like glass, brass, copper, paper, and wood to keep it interesting.

A piece 2,500 years in the making!

Lori Niland Rounds is an award-winning painter and printmaker who enjoys working in several mediums, especially encaustic (beeswax, pigment, damar resin). Encaustic dates back over 2,500 years to the ancient Greeks, followed by the Roman Egyptians. The sense of depth and translucency achieved with encaustic is unlike any other medium today.

The outcome is unique and often unpredictable, something Rounds finds especially appealing. Lori says, “I’m intrigued by the unpredictable and fluid nature of the molten wax as it allows me to create my works in a spontaneous and intuitive manner. Fluctuations in temperature along with variations in the encaustic pigment-to-wax ratio all influence the final outcome. The end result of my work offers an abstract essence of the natural world around us.”

Although much of his work is abstract, Michael Kraniski's creative range is wide. He is, in part, known for his use of a strong color palette, which is definitely on display in these two paintings.

As Michael critiques his own work, he tries to take the role of the observer, ensuring that the person viewing his paintings will experience the outcome in the same way he did during the creative process.

“I am not one who can paint without an intention, and so these derive from emotion or a life observation I wish to convey ‘without words,’ so to speak.”

With her oil paintings, Sheryl Massaro aims to explore the constant conversing of light, shading and coloration as she examines what she calls “life’s undertow - the unspoken, unseen energy that brings close and binds artists and their readers or viewers.”
