A little deer drawing 🦌🤍

This drawing, however small, really is the first thing I've drawn in a while that I'm actually proud of.

I've started so many projects recently that I've genuinely been excited for but have stopped midway through due to just losing interest.

I'm hopeful I can start to get back to loving art again, but it's been more of a challenge than I ever thought it would be.

Dragon "Bert" Frizzell crossed the rainbow bridge last Wednesday morning, April 29, 2026.

He was my best friend. He was always there for me when I needed him. When I was sick, he knew.

He loved piano. I never figured out if it was the music he loved or the girl playing the notes, but he loved it all the same.

He was a model and loved the camera. I have so many drawings, photos, and videos of him I hope to share soon.

He was so tolerant of all my shenanigans, 10-12 year old me, putting him in bowties, shirts, and costumes. I know he loved me.

He loved chicken more than any animal I know, even though he was allergic to it lol

Memorial pet portraits are my job, and I started that task because I understood what that loss was like. But within the past week, I have only been overwhelmingly reminded of the pain that comes with losing a pet.

Thank you for your patience as I process losing my sweet boy, Dragon.

"The Hooper House" in 📍Sylva NC

The Hooper House, est. in 1905, belonged to Dr. Delos Hooper and his wife Rebecca Hooper. Dr. Hooper treated patients in Jackson County for 65 years, regardless of their ability to pay. The house is now known as the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce & Vistor Center.

I was really excited to get to use my mini brushes for this watercolor house portrait!

I completed this piece for the Jackson County Historic Preservation Society's 2nd Annual Historic Places Art Contest, so wish me luck! 😉
