So now we'll start the quest for the rest of the components to build a 1952 Gino Bartali Legnano Giro d'Italia replica for our museum collection. Time to go digging in our goody boxes and see what can we find.

These iconic brake levers are the models raced by Gino Bartali back in the 50s. Now is ours as the first piece on the project to build a replica of his bike (Legnano) with Campagnolo period correct. We are scouting the interweb to find a size 54cm in team Legnano green with some patina but in very good structural condition. This bike will be a permanent item at The n+1 Bicycle Museum

Coming to our stable is this amazing American icon. The 1988 Schwinn Prologue TT bike (funny bike). It needs to be rebuild to its glory with the proper components. Should we go with Shimano Dura-Ace or Suntour SperbePro? Thoughts.

This bike was sold as frame kit, so customer would put all kind of components. But I think a high-end parts of the era would do well.

Today is the day were this Cinelli Modelo B was received as part of our growing collection for The n+1 Bicycle Museum. The year is yet to be investigated, I am guessing 1958-59. This Italian stallion has three owners before reach its retiring place with us. Our great friend/customer John Sava brought this rough (very raw rough jewel) to save her from the crusher or further deterioration. John is scouting the rest of the paperwork from original owner and bring it with the true story behind this steed.
According to the previous owner, this bike was purchase in Milano and handled to the first owner by the legendary itself Mr. Cinelli. We'll keep you posted on the restauración progress and information of this sleeping beauty.

Now, for the hunt of decals, matching rims, re-chroming, repainting, rust treatment, and tons of TLC.

Thanks John, you made my day feel warmer as temperatures outside is like in the 30s.

Paris-Roubaix, 1975

The spring classic Paris-Roubaix is fondly known as the Hell of the North. The race, one of cyclings oldest, is often wet and muddy and takes the riders over many rough cobbled roads.

Three-time Paris-Roubaix winner Eddy Merckx & four-time winner Roger De Vlaemink are captured here slogging through the mud at the 1975 Paris-Roubaix.

L’ Eroica, that takes place the first weekend of October in Gaiole in Chianti, is much much more than a bicycle event, it is a very special celebration of Italian bicycling culture and all of its colorful characters and passionate fans like the biking Bersagliere di Bari who biked and played throughout the day. (The Bersagliere, are a special unit of the Italian Army infantry corps). L’Eroica =Joyful, Passionate & Triumphant!

Did You Know This Black Man, Isaac R. Johnson, Created and Patented the Bicycle Frame? | Urban Intellectuals

For an African American, it was a challenge to patent an invention, especially in the late 1800s. However, Isaac R. Johnson succeeded in this challenge when he patent the bicycle frame on October 10, 1899.[1] Isaac R. Johnson was born in New York sometime during 1812. While he was not the first pers...

Getting some ideas for our storage and keep all our pieces in good safe guard.

We were told that collecting bicycle is dangerous. Every bicycle has several stories, a story of production, a story of cultural context and manifold stories of use during its lifetime. So collecting bicycles is also always about collecting stories and meaning, a cultural endeavour in itself.
