Originally from the Mississippi Delta, Sylvia McGraw developed a love for birds and nature at an early age. Her mother delighted in their songs and taught her to recognize them by both sight and sound – a gift that continues to inspire her artwork today. She began painting in the 1980s with oil, enjoying that medium for several years before discovering watercolor. Although watercolor presented an entirely new set of challenges, patients and practice gradually transformed it into her favorite medium. Birds remain her favorite subjects. I enjoy, observing their unique personalities and bringing their beauty and spirit to life through watercolor. McTaggart Fine Art Gallery is thrilled to represent Sylvia.
