More than just a collection of airworthy warplanes from the past, the CAF's fleet of historic aircraft, known as the CAF Ghost Squadron, recreate, remind and reinforce the lessons learned from the defining moments in American military aviation history.

On Sunday, September 20, 2020, Jerral "Jerry" Long, a dedicated volunteer/member of the Indiana Wing, Commemorative Air Force, was involved in a fatal accident while flying a Piper Saratoga. Though not a CAF aircraft or event, this is nonetheless a significant loss to the Central Indiana aviation community that the CAF is a part of. We are a brotherhood and sisterhood of people who are passionate about aviation. We are united in our desire to share this passion with others through various nonprofits, museums, airshows, and events like this throughout the United States, as was Jerry. We ask that you keep the families and friends of those involved in this accident in your thoughts and prayers in the difficult days ahead. The authorities involved in investigating the accident will be releasing further information as it becomes available.

My husband, Lew Shake passed away in August. He is the one that started the air shows first in Columbus and then at Mount Comfort and produced them for 10-15 years. I have a tremendous amount of CAF and War memorabilia that I would like to get to someone that will appreciate them. It would be great if I can sell some of this stuff but I might be persuaded to donate also. Please message me your phone number if you would like for me to call you.
