Phantom - Studebaker US6 Hello all this is Phantom. she is a 1942 Studebaker US6 WW2 2.5 ton Truck.

Well today Phantom was being put to work on moving another US6 frame. The 2 back axles were locked up but Phantom was ready for the challenge.

Apparently even old soldiers need a little maintenance from time to time.
I’ve developed a slight valve tick lately.
Nothing dramatic. I’m still running, still turning heads, and still ready for the next mission—but after more than 80 years, I suppose I’m allowed to ask for a little attention every once in a while.
So it’s time to pull me into the shop, break out the tools, and see what’s going on under the hood.
That’s part of keeping history alive.
These old military vehicles weren’t built to sit perfectly polished behind ropes. They were built to run, work, and be maintained. Every adjustment, every repair, and every greasy handprint is part of keeping that history moving for another generation.
I’ll keep you posted on what they find.
Hopefully it’s just me reminding everyone that a 1942 girl occasionally needs her valves adjusted. 😉

This past weekend we took Phantom out to the Brookhaven Retirement center for a local car show all benefiting the Alzheimer's Association. We had a great time there supporting this organization.

A lot of people ask about Phantom's drivetrain, so here's a quick explanation.
Phantom is a 6×6, but she normally runs in 6×4 mode, meaning the rear dual axles provide the drive full-time. When conditions call for it—mud, snow, rough terrain, or steep grades—we can engage the front axle at any time, giving her full 6×6 capability.
It's a simple, rugged system that was designed to keep these trucks moving wherever the military needed them. Pretty impressive engineering for an 80-plus-year-old vehicle!
