Clean Water Partners: A Collaborative Effort to Protect the Environment
We were pleased to join with members of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors to promote our regional Clean Water Partners campaign that helps promote environmental stewardship of our waterways. You can visit our Clean Water web site at www.onlyrain.org. The invisible stencil only becomes visible when it interacts with water.
From our families to yours - Happy New Year!
NVRC's Community/Military Partnership Committee held a roundtable discussion comprised of academic, military, private sector and public sector cyber security experts. The panelists focused their discussion on cyber integration issues and activities including a focus on workforce needs and education. The Committee is chaired by Fairfax Supervisor Penny Gross. Included was a web site showing real time cyber attacks throughout the globe.
NVRC is pleased to work with our multiple partners on the Leesylvania State Park Living Shoreline project. We were delighted the Governor of Virginia joined us at the park to tour the project and to declare it a #Virginia Treasure. NVRC Commissioner, Prince William County Supervisor Frank Principi, has been a long-time supporter of the project and joined us at the event.
Pleased to join the Governor to celebrate partnerships. Two projects coordinated by NVRC.
NVRC participated in Safe Kids Day at Springfield mall this past Saturday. Some 400 to 500 parents and children attended, with bicycle and pedestrian safety part of an overall health awareness, including driving simulations of distracted driving, a bike rodeo by SRTS Fairfax, and many other partners. This was one of hundreds of events put on nationally to encourage injury prevention.
Phoenix bikes, Fairfax Alliance for better bicycling, and Fairfax Safe Routes to Schools supported NVRC in training on the rules of the road, a small bike rodeo, and over 100 people signed a pledge to follow the law as a pedestrian, cyclist, or driver. You can view our pedestrian/bike safety web site at www.sharevaroads.org
