February is Black History Month

Black History Month is an annual observance in February in the United States and Canada, to celebrate and recognize the contributions, achievements, and experiences of African Americans in the history of North America.

The origin of this event can be traced back to 1926 when historian Carter G. Woodson founded "Negro History Week" to raise awareness about the role of African Americans in shaping the history of the United States.

Over the years, it has evolved into a month-long celebration, recognizing the ongoing struggle for civil rights and social justice. This month provides an opportunity for individuals to reflect on the important contributions and impact of African Americans on society, and to continue to work towards greater equality and understanding.

We are pleased to share information on educational resources and events to help celebrate Black History Month.

Black History Month is an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing their central role in U.S. history.
