Skull of Smallest Dinosaur Discovered in Amber

"... the braincase of Oculudentavis is about 7.1 millimeters, or just over a quarter of an inch long."

Researchers say it is tinier than the smallest living bird, the bee hummingbird, and raises questions about bird evolution.

How to Clean Copper

A frequently asked question; How do I polish Copper?
Here is an article that goes into a few different methods. We use the vinegar and salt method.

Exposure to water and even air can discolor copper or cause it to tarnish. Here are some tips for how to clean copper safely using ingredients commonly found in your kitchen.

An article going more into depth about the Placoderm fish fossil we posted last week!

UPDATE: CLASS IS FULL
We're hosting another "Intro to Wire Wrapping" class on Monday, February 24th from 6-7:30pm. This will be the last of our "intro" level classes for a few months, as we gear up for a round of intermediate level classes beginning in March. These classes have been a fun way to learn how to turn your stones into wearable art, meet new people, and chat about our shared interest in stones. Here's a few photos of wire wraps that were made by attendees in the last couple of classes.

If interested, please send an email to [email protected]. As usual, we're sticking to small class sizes, so make sure to secure your spot!! Hope to see you there!

Asteroid that killed the dinosaurs was great for bacteria

Wow!

New findings published in the journal Geology last week revealed that cyanobacteria — blue-green algae responsible for harmful toxic blooms — moved into the crater a few years after the impact. That’s the blink of an eye, geologically speaking, and helps illuminate how life bounces back on Ear...

Holiday Hours have begun! https://davesrockshop.com/
Hi Guys, We don't know if we'll ever be able to get back into this Facebook account. No help from FB. So, we might have to create another account. Happy Holidays & please be safe!
Went to the store today to do some Christmas shopping. Everyone was really nice and helpful. Beautiful collections. I've always been more of a biological sciences kind of guy but i can see how people get into rocks and minerals. I'll definitely be back!
FACEBOOK still won't get in touch with us about not being able to get into our own account, because of their stupid 2 factor authentication. Not sure what we're going to do.
Hi Folks, For the last couple of months we haven't been able to access our own FB page. (Dave's Rock Rop) We've reached out to FB several times and have received no response. Hopefully, we'll have things resolved before we also are fossilized.
Check out our new newsletter! Thanks for your support & stay safe!
Megan, if you are up in the Chicago area, this is a must visit far out place
Here's an older story, but a still a good one!
Just saying thanks, here are the costs and rocks in place on my art piece.
