We did not have any shamrocks to share with you yesterday for St. Patrick's Day but we do have an amphitheater that was inspired by Celtic forts that LongHouse founder Jack Larsen spied from a flight into Ireland so that's sort of the same thing. ☘️
The winter garden is just as delightful as the other three seasons especially when the garden contains art! Helmut Lang’s “Untitled (twenty-two)” and Yoan Capote’s “In Transit” bring peace and introspection to our Beech Copse. Visit us by appointment, Monday-Saturday by calling (631) 329-3568.
Three cheers for snowdrops! The cheery snowdrops and crocus are back in the LongHouse garden, letting us know that spring is right around the corner...yippee!

As we fine tune our events calendar this year, we hadn't really considered a sleigh carnival 🤔 What a sight this must have been in New York City way back when!
Sleigh carnivals turned out scores of joyriding city folk who wanted to show off their new super-light rides.

We didn't think we would get any visitors today, but we did and we were happy to have them! The snow did not slow them down and a good time was had by all. Our beautiful witch hazels on the Golden Path put on a show for them with their bright yellows, golds and reds. Visit us Monday-Saturday by appointment and see them for yourself! Call LongHouse at (631) 329-3568 and enjoy art and nature 😊

After this spectacular display, the pieces were moved to the National Archaeological Museum of Naples for an exhibition titled, "In the Volcano: Cai Guo-Qiang and Pompeii" on view through May 20. Check out the "Explosion Studio"! 💥

Alas, all good things must come to an end, and so it is with the beloved "Nest" by Johnny Swing, also affectionately known as the Half Dollar Chair . It is off to its next exhibition but we, and thousands of visitors, thoroughly enjoyed its stay at LongHouse. We thank Johnny for his creativity and vision for captivating and engaging both children and adults with his unbelievable works. Did you sit in the Half Dollar Chair when you visited LongHouse? Care to guess how many half dollars went into its construction?
Johnny's work is currently in an exhibition, "Johnny Swing: Design Sense at the Shelburne Museum" through June 2. Check it out if you are in or near Vermont. shelburnemuseum.org. Thanks Johnny!
