👨‍🎨 Meet the Hall of Fame Artist: Jon Tiger
“Never forget your ancestors.”
Those words, passed down from his grandmother, became a guiding principle for Jon Tiger.

A Muscogee artist, storyteller, cultural organizer and Heneha of the Eufaula-Canadian Tribal Town, Tiger has dedicated his life and work to memory, responsibility and community. A lifelong resident of Eufaula, Oklahoma, his art and service are deeply rooted in his commitment to preserving Muscogee history and honoring those who came before him.
This year, Southeastern is proud to recognize Jon Tiger as a 2026 Native American Artists Hall of Fame honoree.

👨‍🎨 Meet the Hall of Fame Artist
"His gift for art started early. His connection to his culture started even earlier.

Born in 1956, Merlin Little Thunder was raised in a close-knit Cheyenne community in Fonda, Oklahoma, on his family's Indian allotment. His grandmother, Daisy Old Bear, taught him about gathering wild foods and medicines from the land. Meanwhile, an artist uncle helped spark Merlin's early interest in drawing.

By high school, his talent had already become a source of income.
Today, Merlin Little Thunder is being honored as a 2026 Native American Artists Hall of Fame inductee."
