🖤❤️💛💚 Juneteenth: We Shall Never Forget 💚💛❤️🖤

Juneteenth is more than a celebration. It is a solemn reminder of a painful chapter in American history and a testament to the strength, courage, and perseverance of those who endured it.

We shall never forget the millions of men, women, and children who were enslaved. We shall never forget the sacrifices they made, the families they built despite unimaginable hardship, and the dreams they carried for future generations.

We shall never forget that freedom was delayed for many, even after it had been legally granted. And we shall never forget the struggle for equality, justice, and opportunity that continued long after June 19, 1865.

As African Americans in DeSoto, we honor those who came before us by preserving our history, celebrating our culture, educating our children, and strengthening our community.

Their resilience became our foundation.
Their faith became our strength.
Their legacy became our responsibility.

Today, we remember. Today, we honor. Today, we celebrate.

And we shall never forget.
