Haunted Halloween Costume Gala
OC Fair & Event Center

A Super Success for Super Heroes Veterans Museum

COSTA MESA - Ghouls, super heroes, witches, warlocks and more haunted the OC Fair & Event Center the night of October 22 to support the inaugural Haunted Halloween Costume Gala to benefit the new Heroes Hall Veterans Museum at the fairgrounds. Before the evening was over, $30,000 had been raised.

A Sleepy Hollow-themed décor, designed by the creative team of RWB Props, Mirage Entertainment and Pat Kennedy Inc., set the mood for this spooktacular attended by nearly 400 guests.

Revelers enjoyed an array of culinary choices from numerous food stations courtesy of Spectra, wines provided by Barefoot Wine & Bubbly, and nothing but delicious sweet treats donated by Nothing Bundt Cakes owner Linda Kirkpatrick. DJ Ken kept the dancefloor filled as extravagantly costumed partygoers danced the night away.

Prizes and applause went to some especially inspired costumes: Best Group - Robert Ruiz and his family of Día de los Muertos characters with elaborately painted faces and elegant costumes, Scariest - Beverly Morgan as the Bride of Frankenstein, Best Couple - Frank Bianchini and Joe Ramondetta as the god Thor and his gladiator, and Most Original - Three Blind Mice (Monique Pallpchak, Patricia Castagna and Lisa Provence). You could hear the “mice” where ever they went as they tapped their way through the crowd with red-tipped canes.

Daily Pilot columnist Barbara Venezia and Fair Board Member Sandra Cervantes were the gala’s co-chairs. “The night was amazing and exceeded our expectations," said Venezia and Cervantes. “The Super Heroes Guild worked like storm troopers and put on a heck of a party supporting the new veterans museum.”

Also on hand were Museum Foundation President Nick Berardino, board members Carina Pantone Franck, Bobby MacDonald and Eric Spitz, and Fair Board members Stanley Tkaczyk, Robert Ruiz, Newton Pham.

Heroes Hall Veteran’s Museum is dedicated to American veterans whose contributions and sacrifices have protected our nation’s freedom and security. Its exhibitions and programs will tell the stories of veterans from Orange County and elsewhere. It will be dedicated on Saturday, November 11, 2016.
