Museum of the Beartooths

Museum of the Beartooths Open January through March Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10 am - 3 pm and April 3rd through December 29th: Monday - Friday 10 am - 5 pm.

Through the Museum of the Beartooths, the Stillwater Historical Society’s mission is to collect, preserve, and share the rich history, art, and culture of the Stillwater County area. Memorial Day through Labor Day Hours: Monday - Friday 10 am - 5 pm and Saturday 11 am - 3 pm. The Museum of the Beartooths is funded in part by coal severance taxes paid based upon coal mined in Montana and deposited in Montana's cultural and aesthetic projects trust fund.

Our last Saturday open for the summer is coming up!

Stop by the Museum of the Beartooths on Saturday, September 5, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and take advantage of our final Saturday hours of the summer.

We will be closed on Monday, September 7 to observe Labor Day. Beginning Tuesday, September 8, our fall hours will be Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. We will be closed Saturdays and Sundays.

MOB is located at 440 East 5th Avenue North in Columbus, Montana. See you at the museum!

West Rosebud School was located on lower East Rosebud Creek between Fishtail and the bridge near HWY 78 intersection - about 1/2 a mile west of the old Rosebud-Abasarokee Crow Agency site.

With extended summer hours, it's easy to explore the history and culture of Stillwater County. Discover engaging exhibits, outdoor historic buildings, local artifacts, and stories that connect our community's past to the present.

Summer Hours:
Monday–Friday: 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Saturday: 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Sunday: Closed

Admission is always free, so stop by whether you're a local, welcoming out-of-town guests, or traveling through the area.
