One of my earliest memories was coloring in one of those worksheets that had black-outlined illustrations on it. There was an outline of a peach, and instead of just coloring it in with an orange crayon like most normal 5-year-old kids, I started with yellow, then added some orange over that, and then a bit of red to give it depth and fullness. People say I'm still not. But that's another story. I
taught myself to draw through books and a lot of practice. I filled many sketchbooks in my childhood and when I was in high school became exposed to many other avenues of artistic expression. I learned painting, ceramics & pottery, and photography among other things. I was awarded the Kodak Medallion of Excellence for one of my photographs and also awarded an art scholarship from my high school. College was where I received my first serious training in drawing and painting. I knew I wanted to pursue graphic design as my career so I majored in communication design. I found a lot of joy and satisfaction as a graphic designer. I formed my own design studio, PixelGraphics.org, in 1984 and became busy with building a business and starting a family. I put my artistic aspirations on hold until COVID destroyed 90% of my clients and therefore 90% of my business. I am in the process of rebuilding, but in this economy, it's a challenge. Since I had more time on my hands, I decided to get back into creating art—specifically painting. I tend to get bored doing the same things, so unlike most artists who are known for a particular style, I like to paint in different styles. If you follow my work you will see me introduce new artwork that is varied in style and subject matter. I hope you find joy and pleasure in my artwork and check back regularly to view new work. The best way to stay informed is to follow me on Facebook where I will make posts of my new work and other special promotions. Thanks for taking the time to learn a bit about me and my work.
