孬酷画廊 Lame & Cool Gallery is pleased to present a two-person show Ontology, featuring international artists Yael Ben-Simon and Kittisak Wa Chontong, graduated from the School of the Art Institute.
Ontology explores the dialogue between relationship, appropriation and concealment through the analytical and metaphorical approach of the works presented that “operate in relation to truth – a debatable and fragile philosophical postulate.”
The mechanics lying beyond the expected faces can inform ontology.
Yael’s paintings consists of visual systems of concealment, metaphorically situated in the borderline between the domestic and public. The conceptual framework suggests the futile attempt to pacify social unrest with illusion and ornaments that manifest the constant erosion of social value system.
Wa's pieces of “knowledge” are residues from Wa’s public performances. At Lame & Cool Gallery he continues this ongoing project by standing in front of the Zhou B Art Center asking strangers for knowledge donation. Every piece of knowledge he receives will be added to this ongoing piece.
The analytical and critical approach in both works explore the fundamental truth unfolded and reinforce our concern with originality. Straying from the mobilized appropriations, Kittisak and Yael “operate in relation to truth – a debatable and fragile philosophical postulate.”
