I found a bag I had from this store. I used to work there along my mother and sister. Oh how I loved to shop there!
Yesterday the Chicago Maritime Museum received a 20-foot-long mural called the History of Ships from the renowned UBS Art Collection. Prior to its installation at the UBS offices at One North Wacker, the mural was displayed at the Rookery Building. The mural is unsigned, but the work is attributed to Gustaf Oscar Dalstrom, Chicago muralist and Illinois Art Project supervisor. Painted in the 1930s, the mural carefully details vessels to illustrate the history of shipbuilding, from tall masted sailing ships to an early side paddle-wheel boat and a large passenger river boat. It is believed that the mural was commissioned in 1936 by the Works Progress Administration (WPA) for the Lawson School, built in 1896 and demolished sometime after 1982. CMM is thrilled to add this important piece of maritime art to our collection and grateful to UBS for not only the donation, but for covering transportation, installation and a custom made vitrine. The mural is mounted in the hallway of the Bridgeport Art Center at the entrance of the museum.

I am doing research on the members of the Belgian American Club of Chicago (1915-1995), who had their "Belgian Hall" on 2625 W. Fullerton. Remotely related to that, I am trying to find a biography, possibly an obituary, of LARRY STODDARD who was a sports photographer in Chicago in the 1960s. If you can help me, I would appreciate if you send me a private message ? Many thanks in advance.
I'm hoping that someone can help me find out more information on this baseball team. My grandfather's brother is in the second row-first seat, Roman Banach. He passed away at the age of 21 in 1914 and I only know that he was the catcher for the team. I would appreciate any info or leads to where I can find more out. TIA
