As a co-director of the Chicago Race Riot of 1919 Commemoration Project, I'm inviting y'all to our next virtual presentation on the history and legacy of 1919 as well as our public art project. We'll be joined by artists from Firebird Community Arts, our partner studio. This event is sponsored by the Chicago Monuments Project which is an advisory board created last summer to review existing City owned public art and recommend new work. We're hoping that CRR19 gets strong support and would appreciate your attending and sharing! Registration link (free but required) in comments. Thanks and solidarity!

From the Chicago Magazine: I never knew there was a tv series w/ Lee Marvin as a hard broiled Chicago cop called "M Squad" that one episode ticked off then Mayor Daley so much he banned any tv/movie productions for a long time, Gotta find this now: https://www.chicagomag.com/city-life/m-squad-the-best-chicago-tv-show-youve-never-seen/?fbclid=IwAR17cbvnuG9V6Ax4XB1V_ettJ_sY8YCIVo-khRJwubmjOJsgMlRXqEwRoJc
April 10th is the anniversary of the (1848) opening of the Illinois & Michigan Canal. Abraham Lincoln advocated for the building of the canal, along with the Illinois Central Railroad, as part of a bold infrastructure plan that made Chicago and Illinois one of the most vibrant commercial and transportation hubs in the world. Infrastructure makes a difference in creating jobs – and entire cities! #Lincolnomicsjfw
I'm giving a preview of my new book "Lincolnomics" on the John Howell show on WLS 890 AM radio tonight at 7:35. Tune in to hear how Honest Abe is still shaping our national dialogue on infrastructure and innovation. #Lincolnomicsjfw #infrastructureplan
Where did President Joe Biden get his inspiration to ramp up our investment in community college and education infrastructure? Abraham Lincoln, who signed into law the Morrill Act at the height of the Civil War, which created the land-grant state college system. It became one of the largest investments in higher education in history. It also seeded economic progress for millions of Americans. #Lincolnomicsjfw
My mother Sylvia grew up in Little Village and is a proud Chicagoan and Mexicana. She has been an early childhood advocate most of her life - all while raising a family and dealing with various immunodeficiency diseases. My siblings and I love to refer to her as "Mother Earth." She has always used art to make the days flow better. Nowadays the pen is elusive, but she is so proud to share some of her art with you beautiful people. We hope her sublime work helps you find some peace in your days.

Who was the former fellow Hoosier who inspired Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg to call for “resilient infrastructure and confront inequities that have devastated communities?” Abraham Lincoln. Honest Abe saw the crying need for national infrastructure in his 20s and well into his presidency during the Civil War to fuel broad-based economic progress, when he signed into law some of the most sweeping infrastructure laws in history. #Lincolnomicsjfw
