Today is . Two years ago today, we lost our founder Larry Klairmont. What wasn't lost was his vision. We sit here today with 100 + children ages 6 to 8 enjoying an educational and entertaining field trip. This entire week has field trips scheduled with the Boys and Girls Club of Chicago with children of all ages. Hats off Larry!

What time is it? ! Take a firm hold of your steering wheel because this week we'll be taking you back to 1976 for the prototype of the DMC DeLorean, a car that gained notoriety for its role in the cult classic, 'Back to the Future!' Disappointingly, the is NOT a time machine. It is a rear-engine two-passenger that was manufactured and marketed by John DeLorean from 1981 to 1983. This car is distinctive for its gull-wing doors and stainless-steel outer body panels, making it look futuristic compared to the other vehicles produced during its time. While the 'Back to the Future' films drew critical acclaim, and the car would soon cement itself in pop culture, its place in the real world was surprisingly short-lived!

Why? Well, that's strongly up for debate. Some say the DMC DeLorean had many performance (and timing) issues that hindered its ability to compete with other cars, while some critiqued the impracticalities of the car's design. Regardless, today it sits pretty at Klairmont Automotive Kollections Museum where it's appreciated for its ingenuity and boldness.

👴 Great Scott! Klairmont Kollections Automotive Museum is going back in time!

KKAM is proud to present , where we will take you back to the past each week to learn how classic cars have impacted our world! Cars are not just bolts and engines but magnificent machines that have played a transformative role in our society. From movies to music, and even political uprisings, are trailblazers in pop culture, symbolizing inordinate amounts of wealth, status, and the rudimentary quivers of rebellion.

Next week, we’ll be kicking off our series with a fan favorite, the 1981 DMC-12, and we’ll be exploring its cultural impact. However, if you simply can’t wait for the future—and lack the 1.21 gigawatts needed to travel there—come to Klairmont Kollections Museum this week to see it in person! will be open from 10 AM to 4 PM, Wednesday through Sunday. No, it isn't Halloween yet, but that isn't stopping Dragula from coming to Chicago! Come check out our Dragula tribute car at The Alley on 2620 W. Fletcher St. this Sunday! What is Dragula? The original Dragula was one of two cars Tom Daniel designed, and designed by George Barris. It was made for the TV show, The Munsters, which aired from 1964 to 1966, and remains a piece that leaves one feeling both awestruck by the design and somewhat amused by the morbidity of it.

The front of the original vehicle had a marble gravestone, and the body was built from a fiberglass coffin. Everything about it is gothic, eccentric and macabre, fitting perfectly with a Chicago staple that encompasses that!

The Alley is an independently owned rock n' roll shop that has achieved notoriety for its merchandise. From a vast array of leather, clothing, belt buckles, rock n' roll memorabilia, outstanding home decor and more, The Alley is cutting-edge punk on steroids! It’s a historical staple, withstanding the test of time due to the passion and diligence of its founders, and Klairmont Kollections Automotive Museum is proud to display its vehicle at this historical store. Don't mind us; we're just catching a movie! Shhh!

Believe it or not, Drive-ins and car culture are virtually synonymous, as the car ownership boom after World War II led to an even greater boom in outdoor movie theaters. Patented by Richard Hollingshead in 1933, the Drive-in became an integral part of American pop culture, providing parents with a place to watch a movie and care for their kids, while giving young teenagers more space to relax and be themselves. While it started as family-friendly, the youth soon found other uses for the Drive-in, turning it into a date spot for some and a "passion-pit" for others, as seen in the 1978 hit movie Grease.

Unlike indoor cinemas, Drive-ins were not only a place to watch a film but also a place where people felt liberated, and some still exist today!

So, tell us! If you could see a film at the Drive-in, what would you watch? 🤔 Most importantly, what car would you show up to the movie in? We'll go first: The Mummy (1999) & a 1956 Ford Thunderbird.
