St. Pius V School

Alumni of St. Pius V (at least those "of a certain age") may remember the building just to the east of our school as a store or some other business?

Now it is Carlos & Dominguez Fine Arts Gallery the home and studio of Len Dominguez and Patricia Carlos Dominguez who not only are artists and patrons of the arts but are dear friends of our school.

Last week, Patricia Carlos Dominguez invited our entire school to a special performance of a production she created with puppets at the National Museum of Mexican Art. Because the museum is only a few blocks from our school, we were able to walk to the show.

Our children were delighted with the entire production, which was both entertaining and a celebration of El Día de los Muertos and our community's Hispanic heritage.

We send a big hug and thank you to Mrs. Carlos Dominguez for her continued thoughtfulness and generosity toward our children!

The John Singer Sergeant exhibit at the Art Institute was great. We knew of his fame as a portrait artist, but his landscapes and nudes were equally impressive.

Call for Artists: I am looking for artists who have exhibited at the Carlos & Dominguez Fine Arts Gallery, and who would like to show a couple pieces of their work at an event in Little Village next week. I need about 4-5 artists.
If you are able to exhibit two pieces, please let me know. They would be for sale. Small pieces on a table, larger pieces would require you to bring an easel. The event is by the Little Village Rotary Club for next Thursday, July 27th.
Again, this is for those who have already exhibited at the gallery.

The history of how La Catrina came to be.
10/30/2015

The history of how La Catrina came to be.

Big Thanks and Hugs to everyone who came out last night for the Corner Stores art exhibit, installation, spoken word, and food drive. Not only did all the artists work their creative magic, but we also collected a lot of food to be given to food pantries in Pilsen and North Lawndale. Amara Betty Martin curated a truly memorable evening.
