OMGee, the pop up art market we've got over here today is one chilled out slice of groovy for you to beat the heat with most assuredly. This socially distanced market has the goods and modestly priced. This is in fact the final day for you to buy a Mother's Day gift and not have it technically fall into the category of "last minute" gifts. So to sum...great gifts, intrinsic value original pieces and if you don't stop buy and get yer mom something from a box store, we're gonna all say nasty things about you behind your back.

05/01/2021

Still some time to come on by the pop up art market at the Extraordinarium and get a little something original and handmade for Mom or the wifey...for mothers day (roses are for noses but art is from the heart) or get something at unexpectedly modest prices for your own dam self why not. Its good and good for you.

This Sunday's line up is especially juicy. Check out the poster and see if all don't get a serving and a half of tender vittles in the pouch just thinkin about it. Music with some madness on the side from yours truly...its good and good for ya!

For those of you that missed the livestream episode on Sunday of Streamsation you can watch it on demand anytime you like (link in the comments). Are you down with ingesting some fun and compelling live music with a little madness from me thrown in for good measure? Well thanks to Phil Circle and The Darkhorse Collective we've got all your needs ready to be satisfied. And every click, every view, helps us to find a sponsor or two to try and keep our humanity from being completely obliterated by a combination of covid and apathy. Its the right thing to do and the right way to do it. Come on board for the big win!!!

A warning to younger and more sensitive friends, fans and supporters of the store about our livestreaming series Streamsation that appears on our page every Sunday night. It is very definitely a PG-13 rating and occasionally perhaps a little stronger than that. I look forward to building a portal site to send the show through independent of our page to put some daylight between our activist/entertainment evening ambitions and our daytime toy store ambitions. But its a new business, almost completely pulverized by covid and its hard to do. So I cant afford to do everything I want to do. And so while I ask for your patience while I try to find a balance and the resources to accomplish my goals, allow me to explain why I take these seeming liberties. I started this business not as a capitalist endeavor, not to make tons of money or whatever. I started it for the sake of activism. Because I want to help create a better more inclusive world. My vehicle for that change has always been empowerment of what's good in people. I have for decades been sacrificing myself in an effort to help catalyze a paradigm shift where there is equity for all in a post racial, post gender normative and post hippies vs. squares society where demented corporations infuse us all with toxins to make it easier for them to destroy humanity and subjugate us utterly. To do that, I use humor, I use music, I use joy and I use other creative idioms that assist in making the deprogramming more inviting. I do this, because I believe we deserve liberation from the hateful, materialistic pathology we've been submersed in and compromised by all our lives. And yes, my comedy and music are mature and meant for adults. That's why we do the show late at night, and I ask for your patience while we seek a means of doing this without compromising the integrity of the creative journey nor offending those that aren't down with the stylistic approach of me and my guests. I am grateful to you all for your support and help during these scary times and invite any and all productive suggestions whatsoever to carve out a better way forward. Thanks!

We’ve got our livestream show tonight (9pm – midnight…link in comments), here to save you from the self-destructive stuffing of your brains with an overdose of detached and dehumanized plastic poseurs with tonight’s Oscars. In fact it’s kinda like the cultural version of carbon offsets. Just like pollution companies “offset” their earth killing ways by forking money over to people who plant a million trees in their behalf, watching Streamsation kind of pays for the pollution that the Oscars releases forth in our minds and souls.

Coming down this afternoon to enjoy the 04/25/21 edition of the pop up art market at The Extraordinarium today (1-7pm) can do so much to support creativity in a world where art is rapidly becoming a lost art. Plus its a win/win, you'll be bringing joy to yourself as well when you find a unique, hand made, locally sourced slice of grooviness home to add a little more verve into your life.

I'm so flippin excited about the pop up market that we're having tomorrow at The Extraordinarium (2800 N. Milwaukee) from 1-7pm that I could just kvell. When one of my multiple personalities first approached me with the idea to do a pop up where a gaggle of diverse, creative and expressive artists could safely gather in a large showcasing space at the back of my store and sell their crafts and services...I thought "Flabby 2...you've done it again." To which Flabby 2 replied "tell me something I don't know Flabby 1." And I thought "Flabby 2, don't get all snippety with me!" "Oh baby please," retorted Flabby 2, "I shall blouse you from head to toe." ANNOUNCER: Will Flabbys 1 and 2 ever reconcile and quit their feudin? And what of Flabbys 3-14? Tune in again next time for more revealing nonsense!

Here's pics from just a few of the tables from the amazing pop up market going on today til 7pm...no foolies. We've managed to have a great balance of diversity with social distancing...bringing you a comfortable, yet stylistically engaging amount of depth and coolness. Its a super groovy to have you join in on the struggle to keep some little piece of humanity alive through all this.

Made in Chicago: Extraordinarium

A sincere thanks to WBBM AM and FM radios and Lisa Fielding for coming out to the store and doing a marvelous feature on us as part of their wonderful Made In Chicago series. I'm especially grateful that they covered the message of what I am trying to do here and not just the wild toys etc. It airs one more time today at 4:50pm Central, but if you miss the broadcast you can dig it at https://www.audacy.com/wbbm780/news/local/made-in-chicago-extraordinarium any time you like.

At the corner of Milwaukee and Diversey in Logan Square lives Extraordinarium - 4,100 square feet of fun and nostalgia - and eventually live music.

Excited to announce/promote our first socially distanced pop up art market that we've organized ourselves that debuts tomorrow 1-7pm at my store The Extraordinarium (2800 N. Milwaukee) from 1-7pm. We've been collaborating with numerous and fantastic local artists and artisans that have put many of these together for us, but thanks to Jinnie Smalls, we've been able to do one in house. As before, our vision is to bring in as many diverse and organically driven artists that we can and provide a home for the inspirational wonders they create. So kick those plastic, mass produced box store phony artwork pieces to the curb and come grab an affordable, handmade, locally sourced piece to enhance your surrounding with something truly inspired.

TONIGHT...the inaugural episode of Streamsation, a weekly Sunday night variety show (9pm - Midnight) intended to entertain while giving the marginalized an opportunity to be as creative as they want to be. Find it tonight right here on this page (link in the comments). We've got some excellent musicians lined up (tagged in the comments) for tonight and some fun stuff in between. I chose Easter Sunday to premiere this series because I am praying that we can be part of the rebirth of humanity. A humanity that was lost long before covid, a humanity that seems doomed without some dramatic and immediate life support. I invite you to join in and be part of the solution...a revolution of empowering what's good in people.
