A memorial service for three of Camp Chesterfield's great friends who passed into Spirit will be July 19th at 2 p.m. at Camp Chesterfield. The individuals were all three very enthusiastic supporters of the FCCF and Camp Chesterfield, with Gail Snow and Lucille Zimmerman serving as docents at the Hett Art Gallery and Museum, and of course, Julie Fioresi, a resident and respected medium and teacher who served on the IAOS board for many years and participated in and attended FCCF meetings regularly. They are greatly missed by all those who knew them for their love and service to Camp Chesterfield and to the FCCF.

John E. Fetzer and Indiana Spiritualist Camp Camp Chesterfield

Many of you have been asking about the documentary that was filmed partially at Camp Chesterfield, featuring Bruce Fetzer and Rev. Todd Jay Leonard. FCCF's, Suzanne Stanis, was able to get it formatted and uploaded to YouTube, so please give it a look if you are interested. John Fetzer's life story is quite fascinating and his visits to Camp were very important to him, which is the subject of this documentary.

John E. Fetzer was a prominent twentieth century radio and television pioneer and owner of the Detroit Tigers Major League Baseball club. Fetzer lived most o...

Spirit Fest is the largest event that we hold at Camp Chesterfield and it is so extremely important to us to create the best experience for our vendors and those who come to enjoy the event. With the concerns surrounding COVID-19 the Indiana Association of Spirituals Board of Trustees has made the difficult decision to postpone the 2020 event until September 2021.

Thank you to everyone for you support in these times! Camp Chesterfield remains your center of light.

The Friends of Camp Chesterfield Foundation would like to give a big “thank you” and “Job Well Done” to Lynne Weathers, Camp Chesterfield resident, who is transforming the historic Toad Stools area by cleaning off the years of gunk that has collected on the limestone. Also, she has been trimming removing overgrowth around the bases of these lovely tables and chairs. Thank you Lynne, for all the time, effort and work you have devoted as a volunteer to make these pieces shine like new! People like you are truly angels in earth clothing!

Good Morning: Camp Chesterfield to benefit from preservation fund program

Good news! This is from the Anderson Herald-Bulletin, this article details the latest grant given to the FCCF to finally get work done on the Koch Cottage. This has been a long term project for the FCCF, and one we had hoped to have finished by now, but a few setbacks and budgetary concerns has delayed our initial timeline to finish. This new grant money will serve to get this project going and finished. The most important point, however, is that this original cottage on the grounds and the only one that is left that has not been rebuilt or added on extensively, and which has much history associated with it , is being saved from demolition and being made better than ever! A big thank you to all who helped make this possible!

A project at Camp Chesterfield is expected to receive federal financial assistance through the U.S. Department of Interior’s National Park Service Historic Preservation Fund program.

A reminder about our current project to save the Koch cottage.

Have you heard our big news?

Friends of Camp Chesterfield received an $11,500 grant to complete exterior renovations on the historic Koch Cottage. But we can’t accept the grant without your help. FCCF must match the funds with $11,500 for a total budget of $23,000.

We’re so close but could use a big push to reach the finish line. Please help us meet our goal by contributing to the project at Go Fund Me or sending a check payable to FCCF to PO Box 132, Chesterfield, IN 46017.

It’s going to be an exciting spring!

Obituary for Alice "Lucy" (Pearson) Zimmerman | Paul R. Young Funeral Home

It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Lucille Zimmerman, a lovely woman who devoted much time and hardwork to volunteer activities at Camp Chesterfield, primarily as a docent for the Hett Art Gallery and Museum. Several years ago she was named “docent Emeritus “ after being nominated by the museum committee. She was often seen leading tours in the museum by opening the museum during special events like psychic fairs, and SpiritFest. She also was instrumental for many years in planting flower beds around the main sign at the entrance, maintaining and weeding these beds by herself, keeping them lovely and inviting to visitors coming through the gate. She was a longtime benefactor of Camp Chesterfield as well as an ordained Spiritualist minister. Her fiery red hair and contagious smile will be greatly missed at camp.

If you are a member of the Indiana Association of Spiritualists, don't forget to pay your annual dues by June 30th. We are having convention(Aug 1) this year. Plans forthcoming.
a friend sent this. I repost its powerful message. Margaret Mead: “A student once asked anthropologist Margaret Mead, “What is the earliest sign of civilization?” The student expected her to say a clay pot, a grinding stone, or maybe a weapon. Margaret Mead thought for a moment, then she said, “A healed femur.” A femur is the longest bone in the body, linking hip to knee. In societies without the benefits of modern medicine, it takes about six weeks of rest for a fractured femur to heal. A healed femur shows that someone cared for the injured person, did their hunting and gathering, stayed with them, and offered physical protection and human companionship until the injury could mend. Mead explained that where the law of the jungle—the survival of the fittest—rules, no healed femurs are found. The first sign of civilization is compassion, seen in a healed femur.”

I think you should have a history tour in the hotel. I have never seen the inside or stayed there. I would pay $10 for a good history lesson and a peek. 5 people groups =$50. Lily Dale and Cassadaga used to charge $10 for a history tour.
Anyone in the Chesterfield area who would like to learn more about preservation issues at Camp Chesterfield...and who may be interested in becoming involved in the FCCF, this is your chance!
