Walnut Street Synagogue of Chelsea, MA One of the longest operating Orthodox synagogues in Massachusetts. In 1887, Jews gathered in the home of Monas Berlin to daven on Shabbosos and Yamim Tovim.

The Kosher Turkey Debate

As we approach Thanksgiving.....

For most families, disagreements over turkey fall into simple categories like who gets the drumstick, the lumpiness of the gravy, or whose parents to go to for Thanksgiving. For my family, (and the Jewish family as a whole, really) the issues are weightier than one might expect.

Hi. I was wondering if the Walnut Street Synagogue is going to be having virtual services for the high holidays this year. I would love to attend. Thank you.
NYT bestselling author and Tanglewood Festival Chorus tenor Michael Levin is offering FREE tickets to congregation members for his AMAZING new show, The Mom Show (https://themomshow.live) on June 13, 20, and 27.. I just wrote about it (https://jewishjournal.org/2021/06/03/local-author-michael-levin-turns-playwright-in-telling-his-mothers-holocaust-tale/) and recommend it HIGHLY! All congregants need do is contact him at [email protected] or just say that you are a “Friend of Michael’s” at the box office. Enjoy! Shabbat shalom.
#FridayFeature Woo hoo! Our Founder & CEO, Drita Luule Protopapa, is now a member of Women in Film and Video: New England (WIFVNE). 🎉 MAPA is grateful to have connected with WIFVNE earlier this spring, as well as with the Walnut Street Synagogue and the Boston Latino International Film Festival. MAPA provided English to Spanish interpretation for film screenings in the Tikkun Olam - Sanar el Mundo film series. As a voice over actor, director and coach, Drita is thrilled to support an organization that: 💪🏽 Empowers women to pursue successful careers in the film industry 👩🏾 Promotes positive images of women in film & video The New England chapter of this amazing organization was formed in 1981 by 11 women who wanted to make positive change in their industry. Sometimes our clients have very straightforward translation or interpretation needs - but other times, they need something unusual or very specific. Thankfully, MAPA can help! Last month, the Women in Film and Video: New England (WIFVNE) collaborated with the Walnut Street Synagogue and the Boston Latino International Film Festival for a screening of “The Longing: The Forgotten Jews of South America” by Argentinian native Gabriela Böhn, followed by a roundtable discussion. As part of a special request, they needed EnglishSpanish simultaneous interpreters who were also intimately familiar with Jewish culture and terminology to handle not only the sensitive and nuanced language around healing during the film, but also to facilitate conversation during the live discussion with the filmmaker, the local Rabbi, and Spanish speaking participants from Chelsea, MA and surrounding communities. MAPA found two perfect matches! The first interpreter is of Jewish descent and is married to a native Spanish speaker. He is also one of MAPA’s top Portuguese interpreters! The second interpreter is a highly-skilled, experienced simultaneous interpreter who grew up in Paraguay but had attended a Jewish elementary school and had incorporated aspects of Jewish culture and traditions into her doctoral thesis. Do you have a special request for an upcoming event? You’d be surprised at our amazing and diverse network of interpreters. No matter what your needs, get in touch with MAPA and we’ll create the right solution to meet your specific language needs! #womeninfilmandvideo #MAPAinterprets #simultaneousinterpretation
