"In a time when weddings are so adversely affected by the current pandemic, I like to look back at our past weddings and hope that we can fully celebrate with all soon once it is safe. Love is not canceled!" - Allison❤️
We couldn't agree more!!

"My favorite space (and underutilized in my opinion) is our Plaza. This street-level outdoor area is perfect for cocktail hours and allows guests to enjoy the Bechtler's location in Uptown Charlotte" - Allison
Allison is our Assistant Director of Events and will celebrate her fourth year at the Bechtler next February.
This week will follow her favorite memories of the Bechtler and hopes for the upcoming year!
#tbt to when these strong women cleaned out our museum storage space. Hoping for a time when we can all be together again soon! ❤️☀️

"In the coming year, I can't wait for the opportunity to host again and to see how creative people get with micro-events and micro-weddings. Finding solutions and adapting to challenges is what makes the Events industry so dynamic and fulfilling. It'll be nice to see how we all evolve in the future. " - Hannah
Thank you, Hannah, for all of your hardwork and perseverance! ❤️
Can’t wait to see everyone safely again!
The wait is over! In light of Governor Roy Cooper’s decision to allow museums to re-open at 50 percent capacity in Phase 2.5, we are excited to announce we will officially re-open our doors on Friday, September 25.
Our internal staff-led re-opening task force has been working for months on re-opening plans to ensure we follow physical and sanitary safety precautions as outlined by CDC and NCDHHS health guidelines.
Now it’s time to safely celebrate and come together once again. With the ongoing support of @Bank of America, we are thrilled to announce our re-opening weekend, Friday, September. 25 - Sunday, Sept. 27, will be free to all visitors, and feature the debut of our newest exhibition, 1 Cent Life. The following weekend, October 3-4, is a Bank of America #MuseumsOnUs weekend where the Bechtler and other participating museums are free to BOA cardholders the first full weekend of every month.
In the coming weeks, keep an eye out for some “know before you go” tips for visiting. In the meantime, now, and even after we re-open, we remain committed to being here for you online through our #MuseumFromHome virtual programs and resources.
My favorite events at the Bechtler have been our Cocktails + Conversations that we host for our members. It's a chance for members at the Bechtler to meet and chat over hors d'oeuvres and a drink - not to mention a private tour! -Hannah 🍷🍷🧀
Until our museum doors reopen, and health guidelines encourage larger public gatherings again, we will work to continue to offer programs such as Cocktails + Conversation virtually.
Hannah's take on her favorite space, the Sculpture Terrace.
"I love our Sculpture Terrace. It allows for a lively yet intimate cocktail hour accompanied with the bustle of South Tryon and the gorgeous St. Peter's church across the street. Nothing beats that view."
Meet our awesome Events Coordinator, Hannah! Hannah just celebrated her first year at the Bechtler and this is what she has to say about hosting events at the museum:
"It's exciting to be able to experience the arts within the heart of Charlotte at the Bechtler. Working in Events affords me the opportunity to work with so much diversity in the community and to meet new people all the time!"
This week Hannah takes over Book the Bechtler to share her memories and favorites of the past year!
When we asked Allison Meyer-Tucker, Assistant Director of Events, what her current favorite work of art is, here's what she had to say: "My favorite is the giant green Manessier in the gold frame that is currently in Ten. I love it because it reminds me of an aerial view of Central Park or a cityscape." We totally agree, Allison! Alfred Manessier (Saint Ouen, Somme, France, 1911 - 1993, Orléans, France), Printemps nordique, 1954, oil on canvas, 44 1/16 x 63 1/4 in. (111.92 x 160.66 cm)

It wouldn’t be a Bechtler event without our amazing Security Supervisor, Claude Harding!!!
Today we're highlighting one of the Bechtler's longtime employees, Claude Harding's favorite artwork. Claude says "My favorite work that is currently on display is Hans Hartung's "L-1956-22". I fell in love with this piece the first time I saw it. The work, for me, evokes a feeling of peace and serenity. The calmness of the colors Hartung uses here are so relaxing it is easy for me to get lost in the work. I imagine him making only a handful of brush strokes to create this work. Additionally, the fact that Hartung never visited Asia makes the work even more fascinating."
As of June 24, 2020, Mecklenburg County is under North Carolina's Safer At Home Phase 2 of lifting COVID-19 restrictions. This phase impacts Events in the following ways:
Gatherings of more than 10 people in a single indoor space is prohibited.
Gatherings of more than 25 people in an outdoor space is prohibited.
According to North Carolina officials, these limits do not apply to retail businesses, restaurants, personalcare and grooming businesses, pools, child care, day camps, and overnight camps. Therefore, the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art will not allow gatherings of more than 10 and 25 people as listed above as we do not qualify under these pretenses. The Bechtler's current policy will remain until further notice and will be monitored closely as Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, and CDC regulations change.
Weddings are subject to the Mass Gathering limit (no more than 10 people to an indoor room and no more than 25 people in an outdoor space)
The Bechtler will continually monitor the progression of coronavirus-related restrictions and update accordingly. Our event polices are subject to change and each client is responsible for following the guidelines set by the Bechtler.
Walk-in site visits are no longer allowed. Please contact [email protected] to schedule a site visit. We ask that site visits are limited to 1-2 people and all clients must where face masks while visiting the museum.
The Bechtler is committed to enriching the lives of the entire community through art and believes art can play a vital role in everyone’s life. We are so proud of the 17 amazing Charlotte artists who came together yesterday alongside City of Charlotte Government, @Cltiscreative, @brand_the_moth, and Blkmrktclt, to design this empowering Black Lives Matter street mural on Tryon Street just a few blocks from the Bechtler’s front doors.

What a Friday pick me up!
“Life… is never the way one imagines it. It surprises you, it amazes you, and it makes you laugh or cry when you don’t expect it.” - Niki de Saint Phalle
We couldn't have said it better ourselves. Happy #FirebirdFriday everyone!
Just because we can’t celebrate together, doesn’t mean the party stops! In honor of what would’ve been our Gala tonight, we encourage everyone to celebrate life and keep the party going. Eat, drink, and most importantly DANCE! 🥂🍾💃🏻🕺🏾
We’ll see you soon and in the meantime, check out the Bechtler’s Museum at Home page on our website for fun at home art inspiration.
Tonight, our staff would have been dressed up in our finest party attire, welcoming museum supporters and art enthusiasts through the doors for our largest fundraising event of the year, the annual Bechtler Gala. Since we can't be together this year, we're sharing a sizzle reel from Pulp Art: The 2019 Bechtler Gala. Help us flood our feed with happy memories by sharing your favorite photos from past Bechtler Galas. Ready. Set. Go!
Thanks for the share! 😍 #lunchnlearn #firsttimewearingmakeupin6weeks
For today's daily "e-Lunch-n-Learn," Allison Meyer-Tucker from the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art gives us some great advice on using past events to plan for future ones. Using this time to do analysis on past events in order to improve future ones is a valuable practice. Thank you for such helpful insight Allison!

We interrupt your busy Spring day to share some love! ❤️

Update in light of recent developments. Stay safe!
Due to the ongoing concerns about COVID-19, we will be closed Sunday, March 15 – Tuesday, March 31. We feel a responsibility to be diligent in supporting recommendations. Our closure is part of a best-practices effort rather than a response to an exposure, and we have made this decision out of an abundance of caution based upon the guidance of the CDC and local health and government officials regarding “social distancing”.
All Bechtler programs and events are canceled until further notice. In these challenging times, the financial implications of COVID-19 will have a significant impact on the Bechtler, and all arts and culture institutions across our country.
If you would like to exchange your ticket for future dates or receive a refund, please email [email protected] or call 704.353.9209. If you would like to waive your refund and contribute your current ticket purchase to the Bechtler, no action needed, and we thank you for your understanding and support.
We thank you for your understanding and flexibility as we navigate these unprecedented times. Our staff look forward to reopening to the public as soon as it is safe, and we look forward to welcoming each of you back to the Bechtler.
Please follow our Bechtler Museum of Modern Art for more updates!
The health and safety of our overall communities, including visitors, staff, volunteers and supporters, are our priority. We have always taken great pride in our clean and well-maintained gallery and lobby spaces, and we know this is more important than ever right now.The museum is currently operating under regular business hours and our galleries remain open daily. Our teams continue to monitor the CDC and World Health Organization recommendations, as well as best practices demonstrated by local city offices and other businesses and cultural institutions.
In regards to scheduled museum events and programs, after many explorations of options, we have decided to proactively cancel the remaining March - April 8 public programs, as well as public and group tours, out of preventative measures for the safety of everyone.

4. What was your favorite moment from the night?
We shared our very first kiss on the ferry in front of the Statue of Liberty. It was indescribably special to share our first kiss as husbands in front of a tapestry by Roy Lichtenstein depicting the same scene.
3. Describe your experience working with the Bechtler staff?
Working with the Bechtler Staff was a dream. Allison made us feel so comfortable and calm; she was excellent with keeping us on track with our to do’s and timeline without creating undue stress or unnecessary work. The staff on site the day of the event were professional, quick to action and discreet – exactly what you’d want in wedding/event staff.
2. How would you describe the event space?
The gallery that housed our ceremony provided the perfect space – intimate, interesting, and above all, special. Who else can say Lichtenstein and Picasso made an appearance at their wedding?
