Contemporary shutter detail symbolizing tribal unity, Congolese design. Emanating along the varied paths of life, each diamond square symbolizes an individual, tribal community, or nation entering the “Circle of Eternity.” Consequently, each encounter along the ribboned paths of others creates a mosaic in the center. As they exit the circle of mosaics to resume their singular paths, all are transformed by the encounter, an age-old message emerges, signifying unity for all mankind. Statuette of Akhenaten, 18th Dynasty, Luxor Museum. The Pharaoh Akhenaten ‘s heretical desertion of the ancient and widespread priesthood of Amun (“The Hidden One”) was associated with a sudden burgeoning of sensuality, realism, and expression in art known as the Amarna period. In a departure from established conventions, Akhenaten had himself and the royal family portrayed in highly stylized caricatures (here by the master sculptor Bek) with the exaggerated features of an elongated face, full lips, a narrow chin, enlarged breasts, and wide hips, suggesting to some Egyptologists an endocrine imbalance. Never before had a pharaoh been depicted in such a revolutionary manner. Within this bold atmosphere Tutankhamun appears to have grown up in the palace of the queen at el-Amarna. He was Akhenaten’s only son, probably by Kiya, a favored second wife who appears to have died in childbirth. To be seen exclusively at the #museumofancientwonders #palmspringslifemagazine #cathedralcity #coachellavalley #thingstodoinpalmsprings #greatercoachellavalleychamberofcommerce #museum#educational #kingtutexhibit #kingtutca

Papyrus Vignette of Akhenaton, Nefertiti, and Meriaton, 18th Dynasty. The tough fibers of the flowering marsh reed known as papyrus (“the material of the Pharaoh”) were used in Egypt since ancient times to make baskets, mats, ropes, and sandals while the pithy stems were cut into strips and beaten together to make paper. This portrait depicts the royal family making offerings to the radiant Aton, the symbol of Akhenaton’s heretical monotheistic religion. #museumofancientwonders# palmspringslife #cathedralcity #coachellavalley #museum #thingstodoincathedralcity #egyptiangods #educational #akhenatenandnefertiti #akhenaten

Allosaurus fragilis, Late Jurassic Utah, Cleveland Lloyd Quarry. A lightweight, flexible skull capable of expanding to accommodate oversized chunks of food, this fearsome Allosaurus fed mostly on large herbivorous dinosaurs. It sported 3 strong clawed fingers at the end of its short arms, grew to 15 feet long and weighed up to 2 tons. From David Hochman, Forbes Magazine Contributor, Life Section, Palm Springs Travel Guide, What To Do, See, Eat, and Experience, March 10, 2020. The Museum of Ancient Wonders is weird, wacky, opulent, and loaded with drama—in short, it’s pure Palm Springs (although, technically, it’s in Cathedral City). Featuring reproductions of Tutankhamun’s legendary treasures the new “museum” puts visitors face-to-face with 124 replicas of the pharaoh’s sacred and personal possessions, including his state chariot, golden shrines, beds, thrones, jewelry, spectacular funerary mask, and a royal mummy.

Mr Acosta, Hi! This is Alfredo that you just met at your museum. Here is the video. I will post along with other pics on Google Maps. I can only post one pic or vid at a time to your FB page. Was great meeting and talking to you! :-) good luck on your future endeavors!
The Museum of Ancient Wonders in Cathedral City. Small, but mighty museum. Very unexpected. Be sure to stop by when you're in this part of the California desert. 😊
Had a wonderful visit to the Museum of Ancient Wonders today. A bit quirky, but very interesting and the curator was most interesting in talking about it all. Well worth the visit. Will like to go back in a year or so and see how it has evolved.
