Hoosier Salon Artist Gary Dausch on Fox 59 today with Sherman working on his 95th Annual Exhibition portrait entry. Fascinating to see how Gary works!

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Two passions, one artist, and the love of racing and art come together on canvas. The emotion behind the Indy 500 is captured in fine art. Sherman visited Gary Dausch at Automotive Fine Art to learn more about his work.

Indiana & Beyond Opens March 9th

Indiana & Beyond is a duo exhibition featuring two unique Indiana artists. Coming from quite distinct backgrounds, Anna Afshar and Randall Scott Harden have found many similarities through their artwork and friendship. This collaboration is the result of a chance encounter in Paris a few years ago. From that bridge near Notre Dame, these two have traveled together; walking many kilometers through European streets, painting and enjoying a kinship based in their love for art and appreciation of aesthetics. They have the same passion and tenacity for creating art, interest in similar subject matter and inspiration in the same masters (like Cezanne and Monet). Their work is both obviously inspired by their travels together but also a fondness for their Indiana home. Afshar and Harden both possess a richly authentic energy both evident in their personalities and artwork. Please join us next Saturday as we celebration this unique artistic collaboration.

Thank You Carmel!

A “Thank You, Carmel” celebration will be part of the exhibition reception in conjunction with the March “Meet Me on Main,” Saturday, March 9th, from 5-9 PM. With the closing of Carmel Gallery (details below) we would like to take the opportunity of our last opening as a time to celebrate our five years in this wonderful community.

HOOSIER ART SALON SELECTS NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Hoosier Art Salon welcomes Robert (Bob) B. Burnett, Jr. as its new executive director. He started October 1.

Bob was previously executive director of the Mobile Arts Council in Mobile, Ala., executive director of the Columbus Area Arts Council in Columbus, Ind., and program manager for the Indiana Arts Commission. Most recently he has been the IAC’s Region 7 services director for Butler University.

Bob has more than 30 years of non-profit and arts management experience. He has organized annual exhibitions, artists workshops, art walks and other events, as well as outreach to student artists and volunteers.

“Hoosier Art Salon’s annual exhibitions and other events reached new heights in the past few years under the leadership of our previous executive director, Jim May,” said Stephen Tarr, Hoosier art Salon board president. “While we are sorry to lose Jim to Florida, we know Bob has the skills, experience and enthusiasm to carry on these successful programs and put his own creative stamp on them.”

Bob earned a bachelor of fine arts degree from Indiana University, Bloomington.

You’re invited to take your outdoor paintings to the next level with John P. Lasater IV, while painting the beautiful motifs around New Harmony, Indiana.

A familiar name in the national plein air scene, John excels at design, sophisticated color mixing, paint application and edge-control. And now, with years of teaching under his belt, expect to be encouraged and challenged by his demonstrations and hands-on help.

John has been influenced by many artists: directly through workshops with Israel Hershberg, C.W. Mundy, Carolyn Anderson and John Budicin, and indirectly through self-study of historical sources such as Charles Hawthorne, Edwin Dickenson, Georgio Morandi, James Whistler, Edgar Degas, Andrew Wyeth, Camille Corot, Diego Velazquez, and Italian and Roman historical art.
