Friends in the area. I’m giving a walking tour of downtown Amarillo featuring aspects from our exhibition at PPHM “Cattle Cowboys and Culture,” which tells the story of Amarillo and Kansas City (my home town) as they became urban spaces together in the early 20th century. We will wind up at 6 Car Pub for drinks afterward (the site of the original Amarillo Opera House that burned in the 1920s). Come spend a fun Saturday evening with me!

We still have tickets available for April and May Cattle, Cowboys & Culture walking tours! Walking tours will start and end at Six Car Pub & Brewery with your first drink included in your ticket at the end of the tour and go from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Saturday, April 6th still has 7 tickets available, and Saturday, May 18th has 11 tickets available. Don't miss your chance to hear about the connections between Amarillo and Kansas City and how both towns thrived in the cattle industries with a little murder and mayhem thrown in from Dr. Amy Von Lintel. Tickets are available at panhandleplains.org under the event tab.

Recently, we shared the story of Brownie Wise, the woman who spearheaded Tupperware's now famous home-sales model. Wise's work gave generations of Americans (many of....

For Some Artists, the Stanley Marsh 3 Sign Hunt Continues

A good article on our art signs that actually interviewed people who know about them. Yay!

Yield-sign-sized-signs, sprang up like wildflowers in their heyday, back in the mid-'90s, the originals were bright yellow with black lettering, but sign-artists soon branched out, hand painting works of art and planting them in high-traffic areas where they could be seen for free.

Hi friends in the area. I am speaking on Thursday evening at the PPHM, on O'Keeffe and WWI, and in prepping for this talk I just took another look at this nude by O'Keeffe done in 1917 after the American declaration of war, and after her students at WT started to ship out on trains to join the battle. Is it me, or does this blood-red face look kind of like a gas mask? Or a war wound? I can't un-see it now! Come hear my talk and discuss this side of O'Keeffe that has never really been explored. - Amy Von Lintel
