🌸 Celebrate with Mahoning Chapter DAR! Today, our chapter gathered for a beautiful, cherry blossom-themed meeting filled with fellowship, history, and a sea of pink.
We were thrilled to welcome friends, family members, and guests who joined us for this special afternoon! 💖
Here are a few highlights from today’s gathering:
• Pretty in Pink: Our members stepped out in style, wearing their favorite shades of pink—complete with some fabulous pink shoes—to match our cherry blossom theme! 👠🌸
• Honoring 10 Women Patriots: We put our history skills to the test with fun games, learning fascinating facts about these incredible women patriots of the American Revolution. 🇺🇸
• Cherry Blossom Trivia: Did you know that Washington D.C.’s 3000 famous cherry trees were a gift of friendship from Japan. 🌸
Thank you to everyone who came out to make today so memorable.

🍂🎃 Fall is officially here, and our chapter is celebrating in style! 🎃🍂
We are thrilled to participate in this year’s Scarecrow Stroll at Fellows Riverside Gardens! Local groups have decorated the garden pathways with whimsical, creative displays, and our DAR chapter scarecrow is officially ready for visitors. 🌾❤️
Bring your family, enjoy the crisp autumn air, and take a stroll along the Gardens Trail Loop to see if you can spot our creation. It's a wonderful, free way to support a beloved community tradition and soak up the beautiful fall scenery. 🍁✨
🗓 When: Now through October 31
📍 Where: Fellows Riverside Gardens (along the Gardens Trail Loop)
🕒 Hours: Open daily from dawn until dusk

In the spirit of celebrating our nation’s founding throughout 2026 and beyond, the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution urges Americans to reflect on the United States Constitution during this month’s annual observance.
DAR initiated the observance of this foundational document of national governance in 1955, when the service organization petitioned the U.S. Congress to dedicate September 17–23 of each year to the commemoration of Constitution Week. Congress adopted the resolution, and on August 2, 1956, President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed it into Public Law #915.

It was a profound honor to join hands with the Portage County Veterans Association for a special program dedicated to recognizing and thanking local veterans. Our Mahoning Chapter DAR member was privileged to present the official United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration lapel pin to several area Vietnam War veterans. Engraved on the back of each pin are the words: "A Grateful Nation Thanks and Honors You." To all who served on active duty during the Vietnam War era (November 1, 1955 – May 15, 1975): we thank you for your courage, your sacrifice, and your steadfast service to our country. It is never too late to say "welcome home."

Fair weather, history, and heritage! ☀️🎡
Mahoning Chapter, NSDAR had a wonderful time at the Canfield Fair this week! We were thrilled to share a tent with our compatriots from the Mahoning Valley Chapter, SAR. It was a fantastic opportunity to meet so many neighbors, share our passion for American history, and talk about how we honor our Revolutionary War ancestors. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello, ask about genealogy, or just chat!

Stop by our shared tent in the veterans section to meet our members, learn about our community projects, and discover your own Revolutionary War roots. What a special DAR meeting on Monday! 🇺🇸
Our members gathered to share a piece of history close to our hearts. We loved seeing everyone’s precious family photos and heirlooms and hearing the stories behind them. We also shared our favorite hobbies and hidden talents. One of our members had two of her amazing photographs published in National Geographic! It is amazing to see how our chapter's creative and talented women shine outside of our meetings! Do you have a favorite family heirloom or hobby you love? Tell us in the comments below! 👇
