Inspired by the Victorian era, which ushered in a proliferation of interest in the art of collecting, this tour provides an in-depth view of fascinating collectors and a rare glimpse of their treasures. Join Harvard’s Collection of Scientific Instruments Curator, Dr. Sara Schechner, on a tour to the great museums, estates, and palaces of England, where we enjoy exclusive access to historic sites and rare collections. By special permission we gain access to areas, exhibits, and objects not seen by the public. For example, at Highclere Castle, set of the PBS Downton Abbey series, view the private collections of the owners, the Earls of Carnarvon, and then enjoy dinner in one of the castle’s stately rooms.

We have to share a quote from Anita Klaussen, a traveler on our recent Kingdom of the Monarchs trip.

"Riding horses again for the third day, we went earlier in the day and as the sun produced more heat, the butterflies woke up by the millions and flew around us, in the trees, drank from streams, swirled around trees dropping onto tree trunks, drank nectar from flowers, alighted on our hats, bodies, hands. It was sheer MAGIC. We stayed about two hours utterly transfixed. I felt I was in a cathedral. It was a spiritual experience."

Join our expert study leader, Dr. Alfonso Alonso, in February 2015 to learn about conservation efforts, and to witness this amazing sight for yourself.

East meets west, north meets south: since time immemorial, this rugged, remote branch of the ancient Silk Road has existed at the intersection of trails trodden by nomads, peddlers, pilgrims and, at times, the soldiers and emissaries of great powers.

We have two amazing expeditions with limited space available.

Join us in April in Baja California and the Sea of Cortez, where you'll experience pristine beaches and sculpted formations of windswept rock. Swim, snorkel or kayak among a wealth of uninhabited islands. These waters are astonishing; abound in dolphins, whales, fish and sea lions.

In August, bring the family along for an unforgettable Galápagos adventure. We have partnered with MIT for this trip, and will bring you up close to a plethora of creatures, untainted by fear, living in a paradise of azure waters, white beaches and cool mangrove stands.

Expert naturalists are always present to point out wildlife behaviors and characteristics so that we may observe, inquire and react as it unfolds before our eyes.
