The Byron Historical Society Page is a place for the townspeople of Byron, NY to read about the history of our town, collaborate with neighbors, share stories, and keep up with latest news and events.
The Byron Historical Society cares about the health and safety of our community, Sponsors, Vendors and Parade participants during this unprecedented time.
After multiple discussions it is with heavy hearts, we have decided to postpone this year’s Bicentennial Celebration. We remain committed to our community and intend to be back next year better than ever!!!
Tentatively the Bicentennial Celebration will be in August 2021.
Please watch for further information as to exact date in the next few months. We have not stopped our planning for the celebration and are still excited to celebrate the Town of Byron’s 200 Years In The Making.
Feel free to message us any time.
Please be safe and stay healthy!!!

Due to the current highly recommend Social Distancing practices we will be canceling our 200th Celebration Committee meeting this Thursday. We will keep everyone posted as things evolve.
Please consider continuing with all of our requests for stories, pictures etc. What a nice way to spend this time at home! Reflecting on our ancestry and keeping those stories alive!
We hope you and your loved ones will not be effected by Covid 19.
We are looking for graduating classes of the following years, 1950, 1960, 1970, 1980, 1990, 2000, 2010 and 2020 to create a float for your graduating year to be in the parade.
Any graduates from those years interested in creating a float, please contact Jeannie Freeman @ (585)548-7197.
We are gathering pictures of some of our historic houses as well as farms for our book.
If you would like to share your photos for our book, please send an email to [email protected].
We are compiling information for a book about the Town of Byron, 200 years in the making. We would like to gather information about our town’s residents, new and old alike.
If you are interested in sharing some of the following – what brought you and your family to Byron, when did you arrive, where did you originally come from prior to moving to Byron, as well as where did you choose to live in Byron (Byron, North Byron or South Byron), just to name a few.
If you have any interesting family tidbits (examples: Grandfather worked on the railroad or Mother helped form the Sunshine club), something you and your family are proud to say helped shape the Town of Byron as it is today, any involvement in the town or other type of tidbit you would like to share.
Remember everyone has a family story and this is a great way to share your family story as well as become part of the Town of Byron’s history.
If you are interested in sharing your family story (please feel free to share photo’s as well), please send an email to [email protected].
Thank you in advance for sharing your story!
