Not many people know that the day I was asked if I would help with running the museum I called my dad and I told him my goal is to get it on Pure Nebraska. He responded with “dream big sweetheart.” I had always planned on waiting until I had it perfect and all the needed repairs completed. I realized as I spent my summer working up there the Museum will never be perfect nor completed. It will always need repairs, it will always need something done and I may never have the funds to fix it.
I thought what the heck and took a leap of faith and messaged Pure Nebraska when they responded they would love to see the Museum I nearly fell out of my chair. It gave me a time
frame of a little under a month to rework the entire Museum, before it was to be filmed. I will be honest when I say I could not have done it with out the amazing people who helped me. They washed wall, sorted papers, hung shelves, moved displays, framed pictures, and all of them kept me going towards something bigger than me. There were several moments when I thought I was nuts and that there was absolutely no way the Museum would be ready. As I finished mopping the floor just hours before filming was set to begin it hit me,my “big dream” finally happened.
The Museum turned out greater than I could have ever imagined! Please take the time to watch it here on Pure Nebraska, stop in and see it first hand. We are accepting donations to help with repairs and upkeep.
The Museum will be open
Saturday September 2nd from 11-1
Wednesday September 6th from 4:30-6
Wednesday September 13th from 4:30-6
The Butte Historical Museum is a unique place to visit, because of the artifacts inside, and also because it’s inside a former parochial school built in the early 1900s.
