A man who stopped to help a teenage girl that police say had been kidnapped is now recovering from devastating injuries after being brutally attacked.

Thomas Ellis suffered a brain bleed, broken bones and other severe injuries after police say he tried to help a 17-year-old girl get home safely.

Despite months of rehab still ahead, Ellis says he does not regret stepping in.

“I just had a granddaughter that graduated high school, and I think, ‘Man, if something like that happened to her, I would pray that someone would do something,’” he said.

Police say the suspect later shot and killed himself. The teenage girl was not hurt.

More on Ellis’ recovery and how to help in the comments ⬇️

I have been gate keeping this piece. It’s one of my earlier works and a favorite of mine. It’s one I have said for years wasn’t for sell. And would go back and forth but I’m willing to let it go now. At the time I made it, I was looking at going into the Navy while in High School. Hence the U.S.N. On the anchor for United States Navy. I’m willing to sell it finally and will be asking $350 for it. If interested, feel free to message me.

Just got this piece back and it is available for sell ❤️ reach out if interested❤️
