About the artist:
Ukrainian-born artist residing in The Woodlands, Texas. I have always loved drawing and painting, but have spent my adult years doing research and working in a medical field. Several years ago I discovered Unison pastels and could not stop painting after that. I have studied academic drawing, composition, oil painting, and pastel painting in a prestigious online art school and fortunate to be a student of such well-known pastel artists as Elena Tatkina and Irina Klimova. Now I am a member of Pastel Society of Southeast Texas and started participating in local and national pastel exhibitions and competitions. I get inspired by nature, by its beauty and endless variety of shapes and forms. I am especially fascinated by flowers and seascapes. I believe that my mission as an artist is to find unusual aspects of everyday life and add a little more joy and beauty to this world.

When I was a teenager before I knew the definition of plein air, I was painting on and selling rocks while on vacation at Garner State Park. Those early years gave me confidence and helped me with the decision to pursue a career in the arts. My first job out of college was a graphic artist and then a muralist for the past 28 years. My current paintings are very diverse, since I love to experiment with different kinds of subject matter. While trying to represent my subject accurately, I typically try to inject something unexpected into each painting. This could be color, pattern or an object. I could be painting a wall, the side of a building, or even plein air painting from the middle of a lake on a kayak.
I feel fortunate to live near the Gulf Coast, which affords me plenty of painting inspiration. While trying to represent my subjects accurately, I typically try to inject something unexpected into each painting. This could be color, pattern or an object. A few years ago I fell in love with plein air painting. I recently retired from a 28 year career as a mural artist which now gives me more time to plein air paint with friends.
