Plans for Hallock State Park, including 'Taste NY' shop, unveiled at stakeholders meeting with parks officials Friday | RiverheadLOCAL

Moey designed and fabricated the interpretive exhibits for the newly opened Hallock State Park Preserve Visitor Center. Early in the process a town meeting was held for the public to showcase the design intent. Ultimately the Visitor Center and its exhibits opened and turned out beautifully. Sadly, one exhibit element that was cut along the way was a re-creation of the historically significant "Eat Long Island Potatoes" car. But, in this article Moey will forever be associated with the car!

The 600-square-foot 'Taste NY' concession will sell prepackaged food and beverages as well as locally sourced items that won't compete with farm stands and wineries. The visitors center, fronting on Sound Avenue, will also offer bathrooms, an educational exhibit area and a community meeting room.

Big Mouth

Moey seamlessly refitted the 7-foot-high piece to turn it into a lesson station on oral anatomy and hygiene. We outfitted the mouth with 39 touch sensors and channeled audio and video output to a custom-fit video screen lodged in the back of the throat. Now when visitors touch any of the 39 points, the anatomy is identified, and its special features are explained in an interactive game that we produced. After we repainted and refinished the sculpture, it looked and acted better than new.

The Science Museum of Western Virginia contacted Moey when they were gifted an enormous gaping maw, which aside from its impressive 7-foot height, offered little to hold the interest of museum visitors. We stepped in and proved our ‘we can make anything interactive’ mantra.

The Interactive Garden

The Interactive Garden installation is a visually and aurally appealing structure driven by proximity and emotion. The Garden is 24 feet long and supports various 3D-printed flowers that change color and generate music when someone walks by it. These self-illuminated flowers emit light from motion-controllable LED’s and create a unique soundscape. As people interact with the Garden, a self-composed piece of music is produced, creating a dynamic experience that becomes more layered as interaction increases. The Garden blends arresting imagery with interaction, resulting in an intriguing audiovisual experience.

The Amendment Machine is a showstopping centerpiece that Moey designed, engineered and fabricated for the National Constitution Center’s exhibition “American Spirits: The Rise and Fall of Prohibition”.
Excerpted From The New York Times Review:
"The imaginative highlight of the exhibition is a 20-foot-long, wall-sized “contraption” designed by the Brooklyn firm Moey, a display that chronicles the ways the temperance movements of the 19th century used the political process. Levers rock, gears turn, trains weave, typewriters click away. A lawyer named Wayne Wheeler, we read, was the master strategist for the Anti-Saloon League, described as “the most effective political pressure group in American history” and here is the machinery he set in motion."

Harmony of the Spheres is a visual and musical exploration of all the possible three tone chords in a twelve tone scale. As the brainchild of Princeton mathematician and music theorist Dmitri Tymoczko, this piece offers a new structure and visualization for musical exploration and composition. Moey Inc. engineered each node to be touch activated, inviting visitors to the experience and to explore. This musical sculpture is a centerpiece at MoMath.
