Beginning in the late 1990s with support from American Express, WMF took part in a comprehensive conservation program at the Temple of Hercules and Temple of Portunus in Rome, Italy. Restoration work at both temples included façade conservation, biocide cleaning, stabilization, and conservation of its eroding marble surfaces.
Located in the Forum Boarium, these temples are some of ancient Rome’s oldest structures. Today they are an educational resource for those interested in this ancient commercial center.
