As the area undergoes gentrification and demand for housing rises, rent costs have increased significantly- more than doubling in the past few years alone. Although many long-term residents have been displaced, others continue to proudly form part of this thriving neighborhood. To preserve the history of the neighborhood's residents, Los Sures partnered with Cornell University and Churches United for Fair Housing to create El Museo de Los Sures. "This museum will ensure that we do not forget South Williamsburg's roots or those who have fought for the rights of established residents," said Los Sures Executive Director Ramon Peguero. If you would like to propose an exhibition, please contact Alan Yu, Museum Manager & Curator, at [email protected]. Please note that the museum currently does not provide grants nor stipends for exhibitions. For press inquiries please contact Carmen Glover at [email protected]

Our Story

For over 40 years, Southside United HDFC (Los Sures) has witnessed dynamic changes in South Williamsburg. To preserve the history of the neighborhood's residents, Los Sures partnered with Cornell University to create El Museo de Los Sures. "This museum will ensure that we do not forget South Williamsburg's roots or those who have fought for the rights of established residents," said Los Sures Executive Director Ramon Peguero.

Additionally, El Museo de Los Sures acts as an artistic hub for the local community throughout the year, showcasing exhibitions by local artists as well as bringing the global art scene to South Williamsburg through collaborative partnerships with other organizations and international artists. If you would like to propose an exhibition, please contact Alan Yu, Museum Manager & Curator. Please note that the museum currently does not provide grants nor stipends for exhibitions.
