A Portrait of the Self as Nation | W. W. Norton & Company

Proud to have my artwork serve as the cover art for the soon to be published book of poetry by the renowned Marilyn Chin, to be released in October (preorder available through WW Norton and, of course, Amazon).

I recently discovered older works from 2006 that never made it onto my website for some reason, and escaped my memory bank. It's interesting to see how much my skill level has improved in the 11 years since by working every day, but I miss the rawness of my earlier works, when I struggled to render every face or hand.

Coming soon! Art by Fay Ku.
In the latest episode of Pratt in Venice's new video series, Professor of Printmaking and Drawing Fay Ku discusses Venice – especially the basilica of San Marco – as a culture of encounters, and reflects on the ways her encounter with Venice has helped her conceive new working practices as an artist.

“What the characters I depict have in common is that they’re outside society… they exist the way animals exist: outside morality.” Winter Workspace artist Fay Ku gave a fascinating interview on her process, sources of inspiration and artistic philosophy—check it out on the Wave Hill Blog. And make sure to register for Ku’s workshop on Sunday, where she’ll introduce participants to Gongbi, a traditional style of Chinese painting that relies on highly detailed brushstrokes to produce a realistic image.
