We hate to inform you that Fort Okanogan Interpretive Center will be closed from 06/24/2026 to 06/27/2026 due to our water pump being replaced. We could possibly be closed into the first week of July. We are working on getting this issue fixed as soon as possible. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you.

If you are in the area the annual Salmon Bake is happening tomorrow in Pateros. All are welcomed.

Preceded by the Sunrise Water Walk ceremonial walk at 6am, the Pateros High School Booster Club's annual Salmon Bake starts with a lamprey eel release at 10:30am and continues through lunch, silent auction, and cultural displays. Celebrate Methow and Native American culture with the community. The event is free; lunch is $15 and includes salmon, rolls, baked potato, green beans, and water. Sat. June 20, Methow Monument & Memorial Park in Pateros.

In the early hours of March, 31, 2026 the Colville Tribes History/Archaeology Department was informed of the sudden passing of the Program Manager & THPO Guy Moura. This news has not only been a great shock to our department and community, but to tribal preservation departments alike across Indian country.
Guy began his journey in Maine, but Eastern Washington became his home. This land and its people became the center of his life’s work and purpose. He served the Colville Tribes with dedication as the THPO manager, protecting and preserving not only history, but also identity, culture, connections, and tribal sovereignty. He understood the importance of honoring the past while guiding future generations, and he carried that responsibility with integrity and pride.
Those who knew him will remember a man who was kind without hesitation, intelligent, and hardworking without complaint. He had a steady presence. His legacy is not only in the work he accomplished, but also in the lives he touched. In every person he helped, every story he preserved, and every moment of kindness he offered, he leaves behind something lasting.
He will be missed.
