Molasses Flood Event Tomorrow, Jan. 15, at 10:30am. 💯

In honor of 100th anniversary of the event known as Boston’s Great Molasses Flood, we will be holding a brief public event on the site of the disaster this coming Tuesday. Please join the City Archaeology Program, the Boston Parks and Recreation Department, and Boston Landmarks Commission on January 15 at 10:30 am in Langone Park, Boston’s North End, 542 Commercial Street. We will be forming a human circle on the exact location of the 90 foot tank and holding a brief ceremony in recognition of the 21 lives lost during the tragedy. We will also be sharing the results of the recent Ground Penetrating Radar survey on the site by the Fiske Center for Archaeological Research to document what, if anything, remains of the tank foundations under the park. We will be needing around 70 people to make the complete circle, but all are welcome to attend the event. The event is weather permitting. Photo Credit: Boston Public Library

is it possible to have a person to speak with
we're going to listen to excerpts of oral history interviews with elders of the North End from 1980, stories told in their own voices. We're hoping to do a series based on the chapters of the new book, "Stories, Streets And Saints: The North End Of Boston," so the first will be "Life In Italy," as told by two storytellers (Michelina Manfra and Frances Lauro) whose stories take place in the countrysides of Campania and Sicily at the turn of the century.
The North End Historical Society, Inc. is hosting a talk by author Stephen Puleo at NBSS tomorrow evening at 6pm to celebrate their 10th anniversary. Stephen is the author of six books including Dark Tide, The Boston Italians, A City So Grand, and he'll share his top 10 favorite things about the North End.
Tickets are $10 for NEHS members, $30 for the general public. More info here: https://hubs.ly/H0lF40K0
One of our favorite authors, Stephen Puleo, will be speaking just down the street at North Bennet Street School next week. Highly recommend hearing him and checking out his books! This looks to be a great event put on by End Historical Society, Inc.
