See Abigail's Tea Room and throw tea into the Harbor! Travel back in time to be a part of all the action...December of 1773 in the Boston Harbor became known as one of the most important events in the history of the USA. That night a group of colonists threw over 300 crates of tea into the harbor after becoming angry about the unfair taxation laws. Don't miss the chance to see part of American history whether you are in Boston before or after a cruise or if you will just be in town for the day. You will meet your guide at the museum to start your historical excursion. The Boston Tea Party Ships and Museum sits on a floating barge on the Congress Street Bridge. It opened is 2012 and includes authentically restored replicas of the original tall tea ships and an array of fascinating exhibits that are fully interactive. While you're visiting, you'll have the opportunity to witness dramatic reenactments by professional historians and even throw tea overboard as they did on that unforgettable night. Explore the museum to gain an understanding of what happened, how and why and get a feel for how the patriots felt when they began their opposition to win America's freedom. See an original tea chest, Robins Half-Chest, one of only two that survived that has been passed down for generations dating back 230 years, experience the multi-sensory film "Let it Begin Here", a one-of-a-kind epic film that brings you into all the action. You can even stop in for a cup of tea in Abigail's Tea Room (entrance and purchases at your own expense). Abigail's bakes freshly made goods, and offers a variety of teas. You can learn about the different types of tea including the ones thrown overboard that night. You can also learn the proper brewing method. There is also a nice gift shop on site for some great souvenir purchases. Bring the children for an educational and entertaining look at American History like never before. Please allow approximately 60-75 minutes to complete the museum experience. The guided walk-through begins every 30 minutes. A voucher will be sent in a separate email than your e-ticket. This voucher must be printed and presented to the local operator. Without the voucher in hand, you will not be allowed to do the excursion.
