Associated Light Horse Providing historical equestrian interpretation for National/State parks, museums, schools, historical societies, corporate, & private parties. HH Farm LLC
A living history equestrian group doing multiple impressions across the centuries. We are pending members of the Brigade of the American Revolution portraying DeLancey's Westchester Light Horse. We also portray the Sudbury Minuteman Troop of Horse and several of our members are the official representatives of the homesteads of historical figures.

We are a group of equestrian living historians who do different centuries equestrian impressions for museums, living history reenactments, National and State Parks, historical societies, corporate and other venues. Part historian, part actor, all equestrian. Even our horses get into the act.

A great article on the City of Somerville MA’s First Flag raising event. I had the honor of portraying General Washington for 5 years before turning it over to a better portrayer of His Excellency, John Koopman III.

A video from a recent internment ceremony in South Glastonbury CT where Dave and Huckleberry accompanied by Laura Walls carried the ashes of Jennifer’s late mother, who loved horses and visiting Gettysburg, to the burial plot. It was a very touching ceremony for which we were honored to support.

It was an honor to support the Derby Historical Society in this important program, thank you!

ALH will be part of the Stafford Springs CT 300th celebration this Saturday! Portraying Ltc David Humphreys in the parade, who founded the American woolen mill industry (Stafford Springs is home to the last major woolen mill in the country), Dave and Huck will then time travel to 1914 as local Livery owner Levi Gary and take on a 1914 Ford Speedster on the Stafford Springs Motor Speedway track. It will be great fun!

Sudbury Troop of Horse mug hoisting ceremony. Mugs with the engraved names of Captain Issac Loker (1775), Captain Rex Trailer, Captain Bill Stone and Captain Dave Loda (current) were enshrined at Longfellow’s Wayside Inn in Sudbury, MA. Many thanks to Steve Pickford, Innkeeper, and Mark for the wonderful setup of horseshoes in the barn
to display the engraved mugs for the public and for hosting this memorial for the Sudbury Troop of Horse. Jillian Trailer and Deb Stone represented their respective fathers and Innkeeper Howe stood in for Issac Loker. Liberations were of the finest Sudbury Ale and Gretchen Tucker, Soprano, sang a 12th century Gregorian Chant followed by two versus of the unofficial Patriot national anthem, Chester. A wonderful ceremony on a picture perfect New England autumn Sunday afternoon!

We are proud to be part of the Stafford Springs 300th celebration on the 21st of September! Huck and Dave will be doing double duty - first as Ltc David Humphreys in the parade with Daniel “Red Bear” Bosques (Exec Director Derby Historical Society) as a Native American scout. Once we arrive at the Speedway Huck and I time wrap to 1914 to portray local Livery owner Levi Gary and challenge the owner of a 1914 Ford speedster to a race on what once was a harness horse racing track but now hosts NASCAR racing. Miss Gretchen Tucker will be doing the honors to sing both the 18th Century and modern day National Anthems. Parade starts at 1:00 from downtown and ends at the Speedway, opening ceremonies at 3:00pm followed by the race. It will be great fun!

It's been over half a century since a horse ran the track at Stafford Motor Speedway, but that will soon change on Setpember 21, at 3:30pm during the 300th Anniversary Parade & Party! The Horse vs. Horseless Carriage half-mile race pits a man on horseback - Huckleberry Finn McCool a registered Morgan owned by the founder of the living history equestrian group Associated Light Horse - against a 1914 Ford Model T Speedster. StaffordCT300 commemorates one of Stafford’s most unique personalities from the first half of the 20th century: livery man and teamster Levi D. Gary (1864–1939). Levi never took kindly to motorized vehicles, and he inspires this race! Not only will this special event depict one American’s skepticism toward the automobile and his loyalty to the horse, the race is but one chapter in the successive waves of change of that propelled Stafford Springs, Connecticut's transition from a primarily agricultural economy to one based upon mechanical ingenuity applied on an industrial scale. Don't miss this special presentation - one of many - taking place during the 300th Anniversary Parade & Party!

Doing acclimation and footing tests in preparation for Stafford Spring’s 300th next month. Environmental conditioning, testing and safety checks are critical when you do these kinds of professional performances. Huck easily cantered the half mile NASAR oval despite the warm day and the footing was good with his studded shoes - just like with Dr Prescott in the streets of Acton! He got a nice bath and scoobie snack before departing. Folks from the track and the Town were wonderful, this is going to be a great venue!

Supporting a project as Ltc David Humphreys with an award winning Producer/Director at the Derby Historical Society.

We’re on location with Dave Loda as Colonel Humphreys and Emmy Award winning director and producer, John Martinez. The DHS is filming an exciting new video to share with our visitors and schoolchildren! Just how did Humphreys get linked into the Revolution and join in the fight against the (then) greatest military might in all of the world? How did Humphreys become aide to Washington when shortly before he was the superintendent of schools for the Town of Wethersfield? We shall find out!

Revolutionary War Cavalry.

Delancey’s Cowboys, or Refugees as they came to be known, were part of Oliver Delancey’s Brigade. They were nicknamed Cowboys because they herded cattle for the British Army. Their official name was the Westchester Chasseurs. They were dressed in cocked felt hats, green coats faced with white, white waistcoat and breeches, and brown cloth leggings. The infantry wore this throughout the war. Delancey’s Cowboys, however, changed their uniform in 1780 to leather jackets with bearskin crests, riding jackets with black collars and cuffs for duty, and the attire of the regular light dragoons of the British Army. Delancey’s Cowboys battled with both Continental forces and militia known as the Skinners. They fought in an area of Westchester County known as the Neutral Ground.

From the Bedford Riding Lanes Association Barn Tour portraying Major Benjamin Talmadge of General Washington's Second Dragoons. Spacing was a little tight but the presentation went very well. This was in Bedford Hills NY (i.e. Burning of Bedford 1779) a day after an intense day of Hunter Pace training in nearby Pound Ridge NY where Talmadge engaged Tarleton and DeLancey but lost the 2nd Dragoons regimental standard also in 1779.
