I'M TELLING YOU NOW THIS IS A REVIEW BECAUSE THE LAST TIME I REVIEWED SOMETHING FOR YOU I GOT TO BE INSULTED FOR 22 HOURS BECAUSE NO ONE LIKES TO READ, WHICH WAS PRETTY SAD BECAUSE THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE FUN, AND NOW HERE I AM HAVING TO PUT A DISCLAIMER HERE INSTEAD OF JUST TELLING YOU ABOUT THE THING.
Everything comes in a pretty sturdy molded fiberboard tray which does actually keep the contents from rattling around in the box.
The Boyz paint set comes with 2 push fit Boyz and a Grot on a easy removal sprue, so no clippers required but unlike the Introductory Box sprues there is plenty of space to use your clippers if you want. As you would expect the details are crisp with most mold lines placed on fabric folds with a couple that need to be cleaned up around the Boyz crotch areas and across the tops of heads. These are definitely matches for the detailing on the Armageddon Launch Box Boyz and Gretchin and will easily fit in with them or the Introductory Box Boyz.
There are 2 32mm and 1 25mm peg hole bases in the box as well as the new grey Warhammer starter brush, which is a perfectly usable all around brush with a decent point, though I personally use them for applying pva glue to my bases for sand since I have much nicer brushes for painting.
For the paints you get 6 of the regular 12ml pots. The colors that you get are Abaddon Black, Corax White, Leadbelcher, Orruk Flesh, Mournfang Brown and Zandri Dust. All of them are colors that you would use for your Orks, though the Corax White does tend to lean into the chalky end of paints if it isn't thinned properly with water to build up into a smooth solid color. Unfortunately like the last six or seven recent purchases from GW something was busted, in this case the pot of Leadbelcher, whose lid was ajar enough to have let the contents leak out along the rim and harden ( my general assumption given how it was sitting in the tray that the lid was opened when being installed into the tray for shipping.
My example cost under $30 with free shipping. If you want the Boyz for beefing up a squad or need the paints and you get it for under MSRP it's a decent deal, though you will still need at least a Gold or Bronze paint, a yellow and depending on what clan you build a blue and red to finish painting them up.
