(TBT) Heavy Head, 2021, acrylic and oil pastels on canvas.
This was the original attempt on this portrait. It’s a lot freer and loose than my current attempt. How do I get back to this loose style? I think I’m overthinking it! 😂 I love when I can get my brain to go quiet, and just feel my way through a painting.

Standing in Storms, no 3.

This is my third time painting this portrait. The first time is also pictured (second pic, blue background). The second time I painted it is not pictured, as it ended up trash, and was painted over.

I frequently paint over work that I lose direction on. I feel like in order to keep my painting loose, and myself willing to experiment and take risks, that I always have to be willing to let work go.

Do you tend to work to save the pieces that have lost direction, or let them go and start over?

I am excited to announce that I am going to be a part of the Let’s Face It - 2024 Team!
LET’S FACE IT is a course created and hosted by Kara Bullock. It is for anyone that wants to practice creating portraits and figurative art.
