The last wonderful human we’d like to thank for helping the Great Grocery Giveback initiative come to life and maintain its course of inevitably helping supply over 4,000 local families a week’s worth of groceries, is one of Birmingham’s best, Mr. Trip Cobb.

Although Trip grew up in the small town of Bristol, TN, he moved to Birmingham shortly after he graduated from college and through his infectious personality and craftsmanship he quickly made a name for himself in the Birmingham hospitality scene. A long-time member of USBG Birmingham, Trip helped run Black Market Bar & Grill on Highway 280 for years, as well as helped manage his family’s restaurant, Oscar's Café in the Birmingham Museum of Art, and their catering operations both out of the museum and at A Social Affair Catering Inc.

Now, you may know him as “Trip from Tito’s,” as he’s currently the Alabama Sales Consultant for Tito’s Handmade Vodka. Between running the state for all on and off premise sales, as well as organizing and activating at hundreds of events and fundraisers each year for Tito’s, he stays pretty busy. There is absolutely no hiding the fact that his favorite thing about being a part of Team Tito’s is building relationships with and helping many incredible nonprofits all throughout the state. with Hand-in-Paw, Easter Seals, the Greater Birmingham Humane Society, the Birmingham Zoo, the RISE Foundation, the Magic City Acceptance Center and Birmingham Aids Outreach just to name a few. If you’ve ever met him before or maybe seen him in action at one of the many events he has sponsored or organized, then you’d willingly vouch for friendly disposition, his distinct eye and impressive attention to detail, and his extraordinary level of expertise when it comes to both engaging and entertaining patrons while simultaneously providing an overall wonderful experience to everyone.

In his spare time, Trip enjoys spending time with his newly wed husband and their two rescue dogs, exploring Alabama’s many outdoor hiking trails, biking around the city, grabbing drinks with his friends, and being the best guncle he can be to his niece, Charlotte Blair.

The next individual we would like to highlight and thank profusely is none other than the girl who kept the boys in line and was the glue that held the Great Grocery Giveback together, Miss Lindsey Noto.

Lindsey was Born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama and believes there is no city comparable to it in the South. She spent some brief time in Panama City, Florida where she owned her first restaurant for years and became very well-known in the Panama City area as she became highly involved within the community. Ultimately, she felt the pull to come back home to Birmingham after seeing the growing food and beverage scene here in the Magic City blossom and wanted to return to be a part of it.

Once she returned to Birmingham, she got right to work and her extensive lineup of establishments that Lindsey worked at in a chef’s capacity include Post Office Pies, Saw’s BBQ, and Roots and Revelry to name just a few. During that time, she also became a founding member of Birmingham Femme’s, a culinary that celebrates and showcases some of Birmingham’s most talented female talent in the food and beverage industry. Now, after almost 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Lindsey decided to take a different route and become a marketing associate for Sysco Corporation and she couldn’t be happier. You honestly might already recognize Lindsey as she just recently represented Birmingham by competing on season 23 of Guy Fieri’s Grocery Games on the Food Network.

Outside of work, Lindsey has always dedicated a lot of her time to helping out local nonprofits. She not only won the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Woman of the Year in 2019, but she was on the Executive Leadership Committee for L&LS in 2020 as well. She’s also an ambassador for YP Birmingham and on the Salvation Army’s Echelon Junior Board too.

In her free time, Lindsey likes to venture out all over Birmingham to imbibe in all the delicious food this city has to offer, constantly beat her boyfriend at Guitar Hero, and hang out at Lou’s Pub with her friends.

As the Great Grocery Giveback unfortunately comes to an end, we thought it’d be both important and kind over the next few days to introduce and thank the people who made it possible week after week for this program to help feed over 4,000 families a week’s worth of groceries altogether. We’re unbelievably grateful and humble that we were able to accomplish all that we did in just a short amount of time and it would have not been possible without these 3 individuals. They not only got together to come up with the idea of this program and build its foundation, but they helped recruit and organize volunteers for each week, worked together to help raise funds to keep the program going, and each of them also volunteered countless hours of their time to help pack and distribute the grocery kits at each site every week too. So, without further adieu Bham, let’s get to know them a bit better and show them some love shall we?

The first wonderful individual that we’d like to tell you all about is one of Birmingham’s finest, Lorenzo Johnson.

Although a born and bred Northerner, Lorenzo has become an incredible asset to the Birmingham community. In his professional life, he is a sales and leadership coach for Southwestern Consulting. He has always been passionate about his community and giving back. Since moving to Birmingham in 2014, Lorenzo has been active in numerous boards and mentorships, including: President of Young Professionals of Birmingham, Growing Kings and Inc Organization, Birmingham Education Foundation Junior Board, Alabama Possible Junior Board, Greater Birmingham Humane Society Junior Board, Rotaract, and of course, one of the three co-founders of the Great Grocery Giveback.

In the past few years, Lorenzo has also been nominated as one of Birmingham’s finest through the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and was also a candidate for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Man of the Year campaign.

When he does have a spare minute or two, Lorenzo enjoys hanging out with friends, volunteering with numerous non-profits, drinking craft beer and whiskey at local restaurants and breweries, and hiking one of the Birmingham area’s many mountain trails.

Rise and shine Birmingham. It’s a beautiful day and we’re looking forward to another day giving back to the community. We can’t thank Regions Bank enough for sponsoring this week’s groceries again. Region’s Bank does so much for Birmingham community and we are extremely grateful that they decided to hop onboard and help our efforts. Also, a big thanks again to Avondale Brewing Company as we’re really enjoying our new giveback location as it has made it very easy for our volunteers to be able to have a cold beer after helping all day 📸 Happenin's in the 'Ham: A Better View of Birmingham

Good morning Birmingham. At the end of the day today, we will have helped feed almost 2,300 families a week’s worth of groceries. This incredible feat wouldn’t be possible without all of our volunteers, private donors and amazing corporate sponsors. This week’s groceries have been graciously sponsored by Regions Bank and we can’t thank them enough for their extremely generous support.

When asked why they wanted to help out our program, they said, “COVID-19 is affecting so many people whose jobs, livelihoods and families have been drastically impacted in recent months. This is an incredibly difficult and uncertain time. But this is also a time when we’re reminded of something we can always count on – and that’s the community coming together to lend a helping hand. The Great Grocery Giveback is putting food on the table for people throughout the area, and it serves not only to provide food – but also to provide a reminder of the solidarity and togetherness we share with our neighbors in Birmingham and surrounding areas. It has been said many times that we are in this together. And that is true. This is another example of that. And Regions Bank is proud to serve a role in helping the Great Grocery Giveback reach more people.”

Thanks again so much to Region’s Bank who is always stepping up to help out those in the Magic City as well as all over the United States relentlessly
