A letter of this significance does not come along everyday. In fact maybe only after 44 years. At first glance your eyes are immediately drawn to the famous conceptual art work of Ralph McQuarrie, featuring the illustration of Luke Starkiller and his light sword, standing above an early version of the Star Wars logo, and all of this is beautifully being used as it’s letterhead.

Next to George Lucas, Ralph McQuarrie is the man most responsible for the look and feel of the Star Wars universe. As Lucas said in the Ralph McQuarrie: Tribute to a Master documentary, “Ralph’s contribution to the Star Wars world is incalculable.” His drawings helped persuade 20th Century Fox to green-light what became one of the most successful movie franchises of all time, Star Wars.

Just as amazing is the content of this incredible letter, dated August 29, 1977, just three months after the release of the original Star Wars, is addressed to and in response to a letter sent by David Gerrold, the famed writer of “The Trouble with Tribbles” episode of Star Trek.

In this amazing piece of Star Wars history, George Lucas responds that he has asked that Gary Kurtz, the producer of the original Star Wars and soon to be follow up film “The Empire Strikes Back”, to read the material that Gerrold has sent in connection with writing for the “Star Wars” sequel.

This is a huge revelation connecting the Star Wars universe with the science-fiction royalty of Star Trek. At the conclusion of all of this, the Godfather of the Star Wars universe himself, George Lucas, has hand written his full signature, something that you will just never, ever, see. It’s an absolute rarity.

George Lucas was a dreamer, and a visionary, that believed so deeply in his ideas that he was able to build a legacy that is still growing and being carried on by others, almost 50 years later.

On December 15, 1877 Thomas Edison patents the phonograph.
-
Edison initially believed it would be used to record business sessions, or family voices. Edison became famous with this invention and was invited to the White House for a demonstration.
-
Thomas Edison was researching methods of transcribing telegraph messages by indenting a paper tape. AS he was working on it he realized that the same idea could be used to record telephone conversations. He came up with the idea of a diaphragm that vibrated with sound and would then make indents on paraffin paper-.
-
For the next 20 plus years sound arrived on cylinders, eventually after the turn of the century cylinders were replaced by the records disks.
-
This is an extraordinary document that should be in a museum somewhere. It features a rarely seen full signature from “Thomas Alva Edison.” In this Letter Thomas Edison Seeks a Patent for Phonogram-Blanks in Canada at the Birth of the Recorded Voice “Thomas Alva Edison... lnventor, hereby appoints Richard N. Dyer and Henry W. Seely...his attorneys... to prosecute an application for a patent for new and useful Improvements in Phonogram-Blanks....”
Dated Aug 24, 1888, this Typed historical document sits next to a photo of Thomas Edison and centered below them is one of Edison’s favorite quotes.

“And in the end it’s not the years in your life that count, but the life in your years.”
-
Abraham Lincoln, born February 12, 1809, could be America’s greatest president. His incredible leadership kept the Union together through the Civil War and his actions to abolishing slavery in the United States, undoubtedly made his mark on history.

But when Abraham Lincoln took the oath of office in 1861 to become the 16th president of the United States, it had not been an easy road. It was the culmination of a long, difficult journey filled with disappointments, setbacks, and failures. “My parents were both born in Virginia, of undistinguished families. My mother died in my tenth year. When I came of age I did not know much. Still somehow, I could read, write, and cipher...but that was all.” -
Given his early failures in business, politics and life, no one would have blamed him had he given up.
-
He failed in business in ‘31. He was defeated for state legislator in ‘32. He tried another business in ‘33. It failed. His fiancee died in ‘35. He had a nervous breakdown in ‘36. In ‘43 he ran for congress and was defeated. He tried again in ‘48 and was defeated again. He tried running for the Senate in ‘55. He lost. The next year he ran for Vice President and lost. In ‘59 he ran for the Senate again and was defeated. In 1860, the man who signed his name A. Lincoln, the man whose unflagging faith in himself seemed to grow with every failure, was elected the 16th President of the United States.
-
We’ve included this amazingly rendered, colored copy, of Alexander Gardener’s photo of February 5, 1865. Below the photo is this incredible document, dated October 17, 1864, which is over 150 years old but is in beautiful condition. In it President Lincoln, towards the end of the Civil War, appoints George Harrington as acting Secretary of the Treasury. Written in his own hand and signed in black ink, a rare distinguished and full signature “Abraham Lincoln”.

Below the document, and centered, is one of Abraham Lincoln’s most memorable quotes, “And in the end it’s not the years in your life that count, but the life in your years.” -Abraham Lincoln -

“Do the impossible, because almost everyone has told me my ideas are merely fantasies.” -Howard Hughes

His wealth was legendary. One of the richest men of his time. He’s been described as one of the most amazing, eccentric, intriguing, and controversial figures of the twentieth century. Howard Hughes was the billionaire head of a giant corporation, a genius inventor, a handsome pl***oy, a film director, producer, political insider, Las Vegas kingpin, and ace pilot. Ultimately he was a fascinating and complex man.

Because of Howard Hughes’ reclusive nature, his signature is virtually nonexistent. He didn’t sign much but when he did he was usually buying something big which is the case with this amazing single page document, dated March 31, 1954, originally part of a larger contract to purchase RKO Pictures. This beautifully executed signature, just above his signature line, has been hand signed by Hughes in blue ball pen, “Howard R. Hughes.” Next to this incredible contract we’ve included an original antique “Time” Magazine, that perfectly compliments the document. This rare magazine is dated July 19, 1948 and colorfully features an illustrated Howard Hughes on the cover, and is titled “Money + Brains = Fun (sometimes)” Below the document and magazine we’ve included a quote from Hughes that speaks to most entrepreneurs, and to Hughes’ constant battle to show the critics that he could create and do unbelievable things. “Do the impossible, because almost everyone has told me my ideas are merely fantasies.” -Howard Hughes

All of this is beautifully framed in our hand built, contemporary, wide frame, enhanced with professional white matting.

Includes Einstein’s autobiographical Notes in German and English. This volume is the seventh in the “Library of Living Philosophers.”
-
A glimpse into Einstein’s personal life, but an extension and elaboration into his thinking on science. Two of the great theories of the physical world were created in the early 20th century: the theory of relativity and quantum mechanics. Einstein created the theory of relativity and was also one of the founders of quantum theory. Here, Einstein describes the failure of classical mechanics and the rise of the electromagnetic field, the theory of relativity, and of the quanta.

Muhammad Ali is regarded as one of the most significant and celebrated sports figures of the 20th century. Ali was known as an inspiring, controversial, and polarizing figure both inside and outside the ring.

He remains the only three-time lineal heavyweight champion, having won the title in 1964, 1974, and 1978. Between February 25, 1964, Ali reigned as the undisputed heavyweight champion. He is the only boxer to be named The Ring magazine Fighter of the Year six times. He was ranked as the greatest athlete of the 20th century by Sports Illustrated, the Sports Personality of the Century by the BBC, and the third Greatest Athlete of the 20th century by ESPNSportsCentury.

will undoubtedly go down in history as "The Greatest" of all time!

This Stunning two page fight contract, dated September 8, 1970, set up the first of two fights between and Jerry Quarry. This was an important fight for Ali because it was his first fight back after a three year suspension from fighting. On October 26, 1970, Muhammad Ali faced Jerry Quarry in the ring, in Atlanta Georgia. Ali came in strong and by the third round he had officially stopped Quarry by TKO.

This two page document, produced by Ali's attorneys(McCoy, Ming and Black), is signed by Muhammad Ali on page two, in his signature lavish script. Amazingly it carries Ali's Agent/Attorney's signature, Chauncey Eskridge, who also represented Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. These one of a kind documents truly are an incredible piece of history, and represent an important part of Muhammad Ali's remarkable career.

Below both documents we've included one of Muhammad Ali's most memorable quotes.

"I hated every minute of training, but I said, 'Don't quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion." -Muhammad Ali

THE FATHER OF THE COMPUTER….
-
Charles Babbage, a mathematician, philosopher, inventor, and most notably considered to be the “Father of the Computer”, was born December 26th 1791, in London, to Benjamin Babbage and Elizabeth Plumleigh Teape.
-
Babbage’s Analytical Engine designs were finished in December of 1837. This incredible letter was written less than a month later, on January 7, 1838 and was most likely setting this meeting to gather support for his famous Analytical Engine designs and ultimately raise the funds needed to produce this huge undertaking.

Signed to an unnamed correspondent ('My dear Sir'), Dorset Street, Manchester Square, 7 Jan 1838. Asking him to use his own judgement ('I at least shall never urge you').
-
Bellow Babbage has signed in his own hand “Dorset Street, Manchester Square, 7 Jan 1838, C Babbage.”
-
Parts of Babbage's incomplete mechanisms are on display in the Science Museum in London. In 1991, a functioning difference engine was constructed from Babbage's original plans and works exactly as he envisioned it.

We stand on the shoulders of the greats that have come before us. A beautiful inspiring piece for that entrepreneur who has built his life in computers.

"As you think, so shall you become.”
-Bruce Lee

Bruce Lee is without a doubt the most iconic martial arts superstar in history but Bruce Lee was more thana teacher, family man, martial artist, philosopher, and innovator who became a cultural icon.

This stunning piece uses a rare photo of Bruce Lee in his signature sunglasses, taken in 1971. Layered to its left we’ve placed the incredibly rare signature from Bruce Lee, and below his Chinese symbol, both in his own hand. Above the signature is one of Lee’s most prolific quotes that fully embodies one of Bruce Lee’s philosophies for success and what has made his name recognized around the world even today some fifty years later.

“As you think, so shall you become.”
-Bruce Lee
