Please remember the Stone House. No gift too small

Since we aren't opening the museum for a while, I thought I would post pictures of some of our newest acquisitions.

These are photos of a quilt we purchased on eBay (made possible by our Schmidt Foundation grant) It is tagged E.B. Shumway. The photos don't quite do the colors or stitching justice.

Shumway Quilt

This is a recently aquired quilt soon to be on display at The Stone House Museum. I don't know why the video is out of focus. I'll work on fixing that.

Opening Day at the Stone House Museum, on May 9th, will include our very popular Old Bag Sale. Members and supporters are asked to help us spread the word and collect new and gently used pocketbooks for this event. We couldn't do this without you!
The twist this year is that we are adding something special to each bag AND we will offer free gift wrapping if the buyer wants to surprise someone special.

Three opportunities to help:

1. Collect those special but unwanted pocketbooks, spruce them up, and drop them off at one of our collection sites. Many thanks to Bell & Hudson, Easthampton Savings Bank, Making Waves, Looks to Kill, Liberty Nails, Hope United Methodist Church.

2. Donate one or more items to add as a keepsake to each purse. A separate collection box for this purpose will be available at Making Waves.
Suggested items: jewelry, handkerchief, candle, key chain, pen, emery board, nail polish, hand lotion, soap or hand sanitizer, etc. Have fun with this!!

3. Donate gift bags, tissue paper, wrapping paper, or ribbons for gift wrapping. A separate collection box for this purpose will be available at Making Waves.

The exterior of the schoolhouse is moing along, but almost nothing has been done on the inteior. Electrical, insullation, interior walls, floor and ceiling, handicap ramp and accessible "outhouse" which will have modern facilities on the interior, are just a few of the items which need to be done. Please help us restore this important part of New England history. Small donations also appreciated.

I am looking for the family of Walter A. Parker. I have a New Testament that belonged to him. In the back of it says Walter A Parker, Flag Station No 5 Bay Road, Belchertown, Mass. This is an old testament. It has the dates of June 1936-Feb 27, 1937. Can you please help me. Thank you.
