Alice Coachman is renowned as the first black woman to win an Olympic gold medal, achieving this in the 1948 London Olympics high jump, setting a new record. In 1952, she became the first Black person to get a Coca-Cola endorsement deal, appearing in ads with Jesse Owens during the 1952 Helsinki Games. She was inducted into nine different halls of fame, including the National Track and Field Hall of Fame and the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Hall of Fame.
