The Beser Foundation for Archival Research and Preservation

The Beser Foundation for Archival Research and Preservation To accurately relay and provide the history and true documentation of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki Missions of WWII & to ensure it never happens again.

The Foundation's mission is three-fold: * To ensure accurate information is preserved and conveyed so that present and future generations will know the truth about the atomic bombs and the events leading up to and after their deployment, and understand the implications to protect future generations * To provide effective resources to assist Veterans in receipt of disability, awards, and pensions * To deliver internship programs to teach research methodology and ways to accurately record history, providing expert historians as mentors About the Founder: Jerome Beser initially set out to honor his father, Jacob "The Raven" Beser, by completing the book his father was writing before his death. Jacob Beser was the only man to fly on the strike aircraft for both missions of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Over his lifetime, starting immediately after the Nagasaki mission, Jacob collected an extensive archive of documents and media coverage to ensure the accurate details and lessons learned from the use of atomic weapons would be preserved, never forgotten, and hopefully never used again. Jerome completed the book, The Rising Sun Sets: the Complete Story of the Bombing of Nagasaki, and in the process became involved in other projects including the search for and return of soldiers and sailors still missing in action from World War II and Korea. It was then that he decided to continue and expand his efforts by bringing together a team of highly skilled individuals to create The Beser Foundation for Archival Research and Preservation. Much of his initial efforts were to encourage others to become more engaged in locating, cataloging and preserving the records of the past. The Foundation continues to locate as many of these collections as possible and provides a safe, no-cost repository of digital copies to ensure their preservation and accessibility to all. It is hoped that with the efforts of the Foundation, and the efforts of the others with similar interests, we will be able to obtain and preserve materials that accurately validate historical events from the past up to the current times. Additionally, as word of the foundation spread, another need was identified. There are still approximately 78,000 American Servicemen officially listed as missing in action from WWII. The Foundation provides resources to aid in MIA research and recovery.

Mission: The Foundation's mission: * To ensure accuracy of information * Veteran Assistance * To deliver internship programs teaching methodology & history

Earlier today, Marines from the Marine Barracks, Washington, D.C. (8th and I); “The President’s Own” Marine Band; and The 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) Caisson Platoon; conducted military funeral honors with funeral escort for U.S. Marine Corps. Sgt. Meredith Keirn in Section 55 of Arlington National Cemetery.

From the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency:

In late November, 1950, Keirn was a light machinegun section leader for Company F, 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division. He was reported to have been killed Nov. 30, 1950 while defending a hill overlooking the Toktong Pass, a critical main supply route between the villages of Hagaru-ri and Yudam-ni, North Korea. His remains were reportedly buried at the base of “Fox Hill,” in the Toktong Pass, but they could not be recovered following the war.

In August 2015, a South Korean citizen turned over remains believed to be U.S. servicemen from the Korean War. The remains were turned over to the U.S. Forces Korea Mortuary Affairs Office in Yongsan Garrison, Seoul, South Korea, which were subsequently turned over to DPAA.

To identify Keirn’s remains, scientists from DPAA and the Armed Forces Medical Examiner System used Next Generation Sequencing and mitochondrial (mtDNA), Y-chromosome (Y-STR) and autosomal (auSTR) DNA analysis, anthropological analysis, as well as material and circumstantial evidence.

Keirn was officially accounted for on May 22, 2018.

We take a moment to remember the brave men. Who dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima. Also a moment of silence for the victims. The Beser Foundation says never forget to prevent this from ever happening again.

To the group keeping the promise from the org that supports their mission. We will never forget.

June 6, 1944- More than 150,000 Allied forces, aboard over 5,000 Allied ships and landing crafts, took to the shores of Normandy, facing more than 50,000 Axis troops, in the invasion that came to be known as "D-Day."

Commanded by American General Dwight D. Eisenhower, D-Day was originally scheduled for June 5, but the weather forced the operation to be pushed back a day. Allied troops landed on five different beaches over a 60 mile span of the Normandy coast: Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno and Sword. By June 11, 1944, all five beaches had been secured by Allied forces.

Today, on the 75th anniversary of D-Day, 72,708 remain unaccounted-for from World War II, with 262 unaccounted-for from that historic day.
