The 128-page paperback book, Images of Ashland (Arcadia Press) is now on sale at Target, 400 Cochituate Rd., Framingham. Arcadia Publishing announced that the book will be featured in a test they are conducting in select Target stores until the end of the year. Images of Ashland tells the story of Ashland’s history, rooted in the development of farms and mills, which used the waters of the Sudbury River. The book takes the reader on a journey from the days of its early settlement, through its development into the village of Unionville and its incorporation into the town of Ashland, to its 20th century growth and revival. Images of Ashland was written by Edward Maguire and R. Marc Kantrowitz.

In 1869, 23 acres of land was purchased by the town from Charles Alden as a way to prepare for the needs of the town in years to come. This land, covered in oak and chestnut trees, became Wildwood Cemetery. TBT already posted about the Old Cemetery behind the Federated Church, then there is the Revolutionary Burial ground on Union Ave...But there are 3 more burial grounds in Ashland....that is a story for another time.... Happy Halloween!

Please note the time change!

Ashland is one of 17 communities in the area that have been placed in an increased risk level for Eastern Equine Encephalitis. The Massachusetts Department of Public Health and the Town of Ashland “strongly” recommend that outdoor activities be limited to the hours of 6 AM through 6 PM.

Based on these concerns, Arts! Ashland Alliance has changed the hours of operation for the 2019 Dragonfly Festival. The Festival will start at 12 Noon and end at 6 PM with the same great lineup of music, dance, food and artisans.

PLEASE READ -We have received the following inquiry from Stephen Howe

My name is Stephen Howe. I am an associate professor of historical linguistics in Japan but was born in England.

I am researching special words for “no” and “yes” in Massachusetts.
Colonists from the East of England, where I grew up, may have brought "dow" and "jess" to New England in the seventeenth century. Four hundred years later, these special words still survive.

Is anyone familiar with the terms DOW and JESS? Please let us know. Thanks.

HI , HE IS MY HUSBAND,so please help us! I have a business in Ashland Dear Customers, Followers, Digital Influencers, Friends and Family. We are starting this GoFundMe for the health and the coming expenses of our dear friend ALEXANDRE VICTORINO and his amazing family. Alexandre suffered an injury Last week on Thursday morning,November 21st 2019, after two successive crashes in the parking lot of the condominium where he lives. After heavy rain the night before the accident, salt treatment was necessary. , throughout the parking lot, to prevent ice formation, (Black ice) because the temperature that morning reached the freezing point. However the treatment was not performed. Alexandre was surprised, with no chance to lean on anything, went to the ground for the first time. In intense pain, however, he managed to stretch his own leg with his hand, as his leg no longer obeyed any command. He found support on his car door, and managed to get to his feet again. However, with the slippery condition of the ground covered with ice, fell again on the same knee, having a substantial aggravation of his injury. After radiographs and magnetic resonance imaging, a total rupture of the Quadriceps Tendon was diagnosed above the right knee patella, making the surgical procedure inevitable. It will be a very difficult time in his life. He believes in God and Our Lady very much, believing that angels will come in the form of help on all sides and in every way. Since then, Alexandre has suffered from severe pain, and loss of sleep. Believe me. This is being an incredibly traumatic experience. This is the beginning of a big battle. Alexandre,as you all know, is one of the most genuine and kind-hearted men you have ever met. As terrifying as the last few days have been, Alexandre ‘s strength and positive attitude during this incredibly difficult time proved unshakable. We are all proud of our friend, and we are sure that his resistance will undoubtedly rid him of this nightmare. There is no definite timetable for Alexandre ‘s progress, as knee injuries are so complex and sensitive. At least 3 to 6 months for him to be able to return to his duties. Expenses arrive every month ... But ,His source of income will be nonexistent throughout this period. But he is determined to remain in a good mood, and work hard to regain the mobility of his leg. We are all waiting and praying for his recovery! We created this GoFundMe page as a communication platform to ensure everyone is up to date on his status and progress. Medical expenses will be considerable and also unavoidable ... This is the reason for all this mobilization. If your financial situation does not allow you to donate any amount, your prayers and positive vibes will be equally welcome. The Victorino family thanks everyone who is donating to support Alexandre in this difficult time. The manifestation of love and encouragement he has received has been extremely touching and amazing. Let's help ! This page was created with love by the Nunes family. We're all cheering for you friend.
The story of Martha Ann Fields is that of a woman who would stop at nothing to make a better life for her family. Valerie Davis is unforgettable as she reveals this true story of love, longing, faith, betrayal and courage. Living with her eight young children as an enslaved cook, Martha Ann took a chance on her future one dark night in 1863. She gathered her children and crossed the Pamunkey River in the dead of night to reach Union lines and freedom. But that was just the beginning of her uniquely American story. Show dates September 19th-21st @8pm and September 22nd @2pm at the Bradley Theater in Hanover Tavern Tickets only $15.00
